We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Mechanical Engineer within our Engineering team to help support our Adjustable Bed business. As a Mechanical Engineer you will have the opportunity to design, plan, organize, integrate, and complete engineering projects. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by having direct input on design and development and product improvements through VA/VE efforts. The team you will be working with is close knit and collaborative, and values innovative and creative thinking.

So, what will you be doing as a Mechanical Engineer?

  • Drive Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) design improvements for our current product lineup

  • Collaborate with Sourcing, Programs, Operations, and Warranty teams on various projects

  • Design adjustable bed base assemblies and components, create engineering models, and perform FEA analysis

  • Lead product design improvements and cost reduction initiatives

  • Develop prototype models, production drawings, and tradeshow sample designs

  • Conduct product testing and oversee prototype processes

  • Assist in project implementation, working closely with Project and Engineering Managers

  • Participate in DFMEA processes and ensure compliance with customer requirements

  • Manage project schedules to meet deadlines

  • Review and evaluate product drawings, design changes, and specifications

  • Consult with senior engineers on new product designs, addressing manufacturing and warranty concerns

  • Coordinate with sourcing project managers to ensure product availability and cost-effectiveness

  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment, supporting other engineers' designs

    To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • 2‐5 years of experience preferred

  • Proficiency in MS Office tools

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling, particularly SolidWorks, and experience with Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
