Scholastic Warehouse Manager - 1st Shift (Cartersville, GA) in Cartersville, Georgia

Job Description:

  1. Direct responsibility to schedule, direct and execute the day-to-day warehouse activities in the largest and highest volume distribution centers in the Book Fair organization in conjunction with Ops Manager.

  2. Analyze key metrics to establish performance metrics, identify opportunities to improve efficiencies, improve operational flow and establish processes in support of budgeted goal objectives.

  3. Implement programs, processes, initiatives, etc. in an efficient and effective manner, in accordance with Ops Manager Directives.

  4. Responsible for branch execution of fair quality processes, production planning and management, customer orders, fair returns, and aisle integrity standards.

  5. Responsible for recruiting, interviewing, selecting, training, developing, evaluating, disciplining, and terminating Warehouse Associates in a timely and objective manner.

  6. Maintain appropriate staffing levels and control labor hours based on volume, forecasting, and budget.

  7. Plan and conduct regular performance meetings with Warehouse Associates.

  8. Plan and conduct regular staff meetings to inform, educate, and recognize Associates, as well as providing a forum for the exchange of ideas.

  9. Support branches within Book Fairs network with onboarding, training and operational support activities as needed, requiring limited travel.

  10. Execute Company policies, procedures, and program in a professional, effective, and timely manner.

  11. Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and productive work environment while focusing on employee safety, regulatory guidelines, and company directions.

  12. Assure all assets are secured, maintained, and handled appropriately to minimize product damage, property loss, and work-related injuries.

  13. Maintain business confidentiality relative to personnel, pricing, promotion, customer lists, and methods of distribution.

  14. Execute direction set forth by Sr. Area Operations Manager and Ops Manager.

Qualifications

  1. BA/BS degree in Management, Industrial Management, Business, Transportation, Production, or Operations related curriculum preferred.

  2. Minimum 3 years Management experience in a production or distribution environment.

  3. Facilities shift management or supervisory experience is a must.

  4. Proven ability to manage a high quality, efficient, and cost-effective operation.

  5. Ability to analyze, initiate, and implement plans to achieve budgeted and forecasted goals.

  6. Inventory control experience with hands on management of warehouse products, supplies and goods is preferred.

  7. Fleet / Logistics management is a plus.

  8. Forklift certified preferred.

  9. Clear motor vehicle record.

  10. Must be physically able to push, and handle in excess of 300lbs. And to lift and carry up to 50lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  11. Reliable, self-motivated, disciplined, and effective communicator, Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

  12. Strong leadership presence, motivational skills, and customer service oriented.

  13. Strong computer skills, RF scanner knowledge, AS400 and Microsoft office a plus.
