Summary of Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Accounts Payable team. In this pivotal role, you will manage complex accounts payable functions, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

In this key role, you will be instrumental in streamlining our payables process, resolving challenges proactively, and contributing to the seamless operation of our financial systems. Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, you will also collaborate across departments to strengthen our financial foundation and support the organization’s broader strategic goals. This is an opportunity to make a tangible impact in a critical area of our finance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and complete the end-to-end accounts payable process, including invoice processing, payment approvals, and vendor relationship management.

  • Ensure the prompt and accurate payment of critical financial obligations.

  • Perform timely and accurate reconciliation of AP accounts, ensuring all discrepancies are resolved promptly.

  • Prepare and post accurate adjusting journal entries to correct financial records as necessary.

  • Assist with daily bank reconciliations.

  • Ensure all payments comply with company policies, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements, including tax and 1099 reporting.

  • Yearly 1099 preparation and management of 1099 email alias.

  • Identify and implement improvements to streamline AP processes, enhance efficiency, and reduce error rates.

  • Leverage ERP systems (SAP, Concur Invoice and Concur Expense) to automate workflows and improve data integrity.

  • Prepare documentation and support internal and external audits related to Accounts Payable activities.

  • Maintain positive relationships with vendors and employees, addressing inquiries and resolving issues with professionalism and timeliness.

  • Collaborate with the finance and procurement teams.

  • Liaise with departments outside of Finance, including legal entities (US and non-US based).

  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field

  • 8+ years in Accounting with increasing responsibility, management experience preferred

  • Deep knowledge of Accounting or ERP systems, preferably SAP S4HANA Public Cloud

  • Experience with Project/Cost Accounting

  • Proficient in Microsoft products, particularly Excel

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and accommodate unexpected tasks

  • Responsive and flexible

  • Attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • IRS FIRE System

  • Experience with SAP S4HANA Public Cloud

Reporting Relationships

This position will report to the Accounting Manager and has no direct reports.

Work Environment

Remote work environment with a preference for EST time zone and requirement to travel to the Bethesda office as needed.

The base salary range for this position is between $70,000 and $80,000. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location and relevant experience, education, certifications, and years of experience. There is no guarantee an offer will be at the top of the posted range based on the salary analysis.
