Manufacturing Engineer

Determines optimal manufacturing methods and processes for producing products. Responsible for defining work processes, documenting work instructions, designing manufacturing tooling, conducting time studies for reducing waste and excess, line balancing, and driving continuous improvement. Understands productivity improvement methodologies including Lean Manufacturing and champions change.

We specialize in electronic and structural systems, producing complex products and components for commercial aircraft platforms, mission-critical military and space programs, and sophisticated industrial applications.

Our Facility in Carson, CA is our Engineered Products Group location, which houses our Human Machine Interface, Motion Control Device, Radiofrequency Departments.

Job Summary

  • Designs, develops and implements manufacturing processes and systems.

  • Leads continuous improvement projects utilizing lean and six sigma tools.

  • Designs, test and validate simple tooling and fixtures for use on the production floor.

  • Trains production personnel on the proper use and execution of tools, processes, and procedures.

  • Creates and updates routing information (cycle times, notes, etc.).

  • Supports NPI teams with labor estimates, development of manufacturing processes and development of procedures for new products.

  • Leads and supports RCCA efforts for nonconformances.

  • Creates ECOs, facilitates the creation of DMRs and supports line leads on technical issues that originate from production.

  • Evaluates manufacturing processes and workflows to identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Communicates with vendors, and suppliers on technical issues as required.

  • Other tasks as assigned.

    Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of acrylic machining, painting processes, and assembly tooling.

  • Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret blue prints, manufacturing plans, specifications and purchase

orders, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Ability to contribute/participate on cross-functional, problem solving teams.

    Required Experience and Education

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering or Related Engineering field

  • 5 years minimum experience in a production environment, preferably with electromechanical, aerospace, or industrial applications

  • Understanding of 6-Sigma and Lean Manufacturing concepts

  • Experience using CAD/CAM software (SolidWorks and AutoCAD)

  • Proficiency in MS Office suite

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
