Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm but will have to be on call in case of emergency, water main breaks, etc.

Job Description:

TASKS

Will operate backhoe for water department. May have to operate other machinery types such as: road grader dozer, scraper, loader, and other heavy construction equipment; as assigned. May dig garbage pits, cover garbage, fill over and maintains refuse areas; as assigned, and clear other materials.May loadand drive trucks and equipment to and from work site; check and maintain vehicle and equipment prior to, during and after use; conduct and perform routine maintenance; check oil, hydraulic fluid, water level and other areas; operate a variety of related equipment, hand tools, equipment, and other items; may assist other city departments .

Performs other duties as assigned or required.

* MINIMUM* QUALIFICATIONS

A high school diploma or GED AND three years of relevant, responsible heavy construction equipment operation associated with landfill operations, streets and/or roads building, construction, repair, maintenance and/or improvement or closely related responsibilities.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

May be exposed to dangerous machinery, exposure to extreme weather conditions, infectious diseases, hazardous chemicals, traffic hazards and other construction-industry and related risks and dangers. As assigned, may be required to obtain appropriate training and handling of solid waste and related materials.
