Responsibilities

WOCN Nurse

Our comprehensive wound care healing center is located within Mercy San Juan Medical Center. We are dedicated to providing advanced care for patients with difficult-to-heal and/or non-healing wounds. Our staff includes a multidisciplinary team of clinicians with advanced training in wound care and our approach is aggressive and comprehensive coordinating traditional and advanced therapies that aid and accelerate the wound healing process.

The Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON) is responsible for developing and coordinating the hospitals Ostomy care program. This CWON is responsible for working in the out-patient wound care department and assisting with complex inpatient wound/ostomy patients. This CWON establishes standards of care and clinical competencies to meet patient needs and training to ensure clinical expertise. The incumbent collaborates with the Medical Staff and provides education to patients caregivers and staff on wound ostomy and continence care. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of the hospital.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Current CA RN license and AHA BLS

  • BSN

  • Wound Care Certified (WCC)

  • 2 years RN experience in an acute care setting in the last 5 years -OR- 3 years RN experience in a clinic or subacute setting within the last 5 years

  • RNs with Clinic or Subacute experience may be considered based on the complexity of wound care performed within the subacute setting.

  • Within 24 months of hire one of the following certifications must be obtained:

  • Wound Ostomy and Continence Certification (WOCN)

  • Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN)

  • This role also requires good written presentation and computer skills

Preferred:

  • CWOCN or WOCN experience

Pay Range

$65.29 - $79.28 /hour
