Dignity Health Exercise Technician in Carmichael, California

Dignity Health Mercy San Juan Medical Center is a 370-bed not-for-profit Level 2 Trauma Center located in Carmichael California serving the areas of north Sacramento County and south Placer County for more than 50 years. Responsibilities

This position requires at least 2 years experience working in a cardiac rehabilitation department or related field and a Bachelor's degree with training in exercise physiology physical education or related field. Experience required for this position includes the following knowledge skills and abilities: Knowledge of: advanced cardiac life support/emergency procedures; cardiovascular disease musculoskeletal problems and cardiac arrhythmias; pertinent health care rules and regulations; related hospital policies and procedures; use of unit facilities and equipment and interpretation of data results. Skills: excellent communication skills; current standards of exercise principles; techniques and interpretation of telemetric monitoring. Ability to: offer education related to the cardiac disease process medications and lifestyle health habits; integrate appropriate referral and counseling into routine care of patients; conduct recruitment of prospective program participants; motivate patients to ensure quality of results and patient satisfaction; perform ongoing patient assessments regarding educational physiological and emotional needs; maintain communication with patients co-workers and physicians as appropriate; promote and market the program on an ongoing basis; conduct accurate and complete documentation; teach inpatient and outpatient classes as assigned according to level of expertise patient therapy sessions; participate in CQI for the department; ensure the standards of exercise principles as taught to staff and patient population associated with the cardiac rehabilitation department.

Under the supervision of the Cardiac Conditioning Coordinator recruit program participants design individual rehabilitation programs conduct educational classes and supervise group exercise sessions for participants with cardiac disease.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree

  • Two (2) years experience working in a cardiac rehabilitation department or related field

  • Exercise physiology, physical education or related field.

  • Knowledge of advanced cardiac life support/emergency procedures

  • Cardiovascular disease musculoskeletal problems and cardiac arrhythmias

  • Pertinent health care rules and regulations, related hospital policies and procedures

  • Use of unit facilities and equipment and interpretation of data results

  • Current BLS, ACLS, ACSM

Pay Range

$42.88 - $49.27 /hour
