Position Location: Carmel, IN or Eagan, MN

Are you a leader looking for a new opportunity to work with a talented team that supports the real-time operations of the electric grid across MISO’s footprint of 15 states impacting over 45 million customers?

As MISO’s Manager Balancing & Dispatch, you are responsible for current day planning for balancing load and generation. Additionally, you will serve as an advocate and champion for our team inside and outside of the control room. The goal is to ensure reliable, efficient, and compliant execution of MISO’s Dispatch and MISO’s Balancing Authority (BA) functions, as well as positioning the functions to proactively adapt to changing operational and business landscape. This role impacts both the MISO function along with partnering with external NERC committees to impact the Eastern Interconnect. You will also represent MISO in multiple external committees.

You will have the opportunity to help:

• drive the implementation of NERC Standards

• support operations of the grid during normal, abnormal, and emergency conditions

• develop and execute strategy to ensure sustainable and robust business operation

• drive incremental and evolutionary changes to processes, practices, and tools

• lead Day Support staff, Team Lead, as well as MISO’s Balancing Authority and Unit Dispatch operators

In one year as our Manager Balancing & Dispatch, you will know you were successful if:

• you collaborated with other leaders to advocate for the development and enhancements of our operators and support staff to ensure MISO continues to be positioned to successfully maintain reliability in all operating conditions

• you collaborated with other Operations leaders to advance implementing operations of the future

• you collaborated with leadership to identify and drive implementation of enhancements to our processes, practices, and tools

• you collaborated with leadership to develop a stable and sustainable business operations and create an atmosphere built around MISO’s core value

• you deepened your knowledge of our area and driven the growth of system balancing and dispatch expertise at MISO

We are looking for talented leaders who must have:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field OR 10 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree

• Specific experience within any of the following: Balancing Authority Operations, Market Operations, Generation and Interchange, or Dispatch

• Demonstrated leadership experience and a desire to help develop others in their personal achievements

• Previously experience working professional, respectfully and collectively with other leadership to make the right decisions for not only their team but also for the company as a whole

Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.
