Job Description

The Wellhead Preventative Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in ensuring efficient operations of Water Solutions facilities. The position is diverse and maintains, assesses, diagnoses and repairs all moving parts and equipment at Water Solutions facilities. The position is responsible for ensuring the mechanical integrity of the valves and moving parts of the well head.

Duties & Responsibilities (Essential functions are identified in bold and italicized text below.)

  • Must work safely at all times.

  • Strictly follow and enforce all safety requirements and champion a safety-first culture.

  • Conduct daily walkthrough of Water Solutions facilities to perform routine, proactive, corrective and emergency maintenance activities on all assigned equipment.

  • Perform scheduled inspections.

  • Manage site integrity and prevent mechanical failure.

  • Grease and oil any moving parts, as needed, such as valves, bolts, fittings, flanges and bearings.

  • Check fluid levels where applicable.

  • Assess all cat walks and supporting structures.

  • Perform general site maintenance and housekeeping.

  • Manage equipment warranties and maintain accurate recordkeeping.

  • Demonstrate 100% commitment to always working safely.

  • Comply with OSHA requirements and always follow all customer and NGL Water Solutions safety policies and procedures.

  • Report and discuss safety concerns immediately with management.

  • Respond to calls in a timely fashion, understanding the urgency of repairing equipment and the ramifications to the business when the site is not operable.

  • Complete and submit all onsite and in-house repairs accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Regular attendance at the work site is required.

Position Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong mechanical and industrial skills are preferred.

  • Wide range of knowledge of rotating equipment.

  • Demonstrated ability to read micrometers/calipers.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate a forklift.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and ability to learn software and technical tools.

  • Organizational skills.

  • Must be highly motivated and able to work independently.

  • Demonstrated ability to work overtime and on weekends if necessary.

  • Demonstrated ability to be a positive representative of the Company both internally and externally.

  • Demonstrated ability to always work with respect and cooperation with fellow employees and customers.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a valid driver’s license.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate a forklift.

Experience/Education

  • At least 1 year of experience working on ancillary equipment, such as pumps and motors is preferred.

  • At least 1 year of experience working with ball and gate valves and well heads is preferred.

  • High School diploma / GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and experience, is required.

  • Experience working in the oil and gas industry is preferred.

  • Valid driver’s license is required.

Travel

Up to 50% travel required. Requires the ability to travel to a variety of field locations, where environment may vary significantly, within a geographic region.

  • Reach with hands and arms above the head and to ground level;

  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl or otherwise reach into confined spaces;

  • Push and pull material and equipment from one place to another;

  • Communicate with and exchange information verbally and in writing;

  • Work using repetitive motion.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

  • Work requires physical efforts associated with using the computer and phones to input and access information.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is:

  • Occasionally in an office environment.

  • Occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places.

  • Frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat.

  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, hand tools and small to medium-sized power tool use.

  • Occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.

  • Regularly exposed to non-toxic propane fumes or airborne particles.

  • Regularly exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. Note the Company requires all employees to wear a four-gas monitor (detects hydrogen sulfide, oxygen, carbon monoxide, and explosive atmospheres). The Solids Processing Facilities are equipped with additional gas detection and monitoring systems, which sound alarms if levels exceed acceptable standards.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

This position is required to be performed at the work site during regularly scheduled hours. Physical presence at the work site is required.
