Location/Division Specific Information

Based in Carlsbad, CA, the Biorepository Manager will join our Life Sciences Group, driving innovation in the field of oncology specimen management.

Discover Impactful Work:

As a Biorepository Manager, you will have a meaningful role in advancing scientific research within the Clinical Sequencing Division. You will use your expertise in oncology specimen procurement and management. Your work will contribute to the future of health by helping customers find cures for cancer to treat millions of patients globally.

A day in the Life:

  • Manage direct and indirect reports based locally in Carlsbad as well as other R&D sites.

  • Ensure accurate handling and appropriate storage of biospecimens in a BSL2 environment.

  • Coordinate inventory management software for sample traceability.

  • Address and manage internal and external sample procurement requests.

  • Manage DNA/RNA extraction, NGS library preparation, and sequencing activities.

  • Review and manage biospecimen screening results and apply administrative controls.

Keys to Success:

  • Lead a high-performing team to complete sample procurement, management, and screening requests.

  • Ensure standard methodologies for sample handling and laboratory procedures.

  • Identify and address deviations from protocols.

  • Collaborate effectively to achieve pre-defined goals.

  • Prepare regular reports detailing sample procurement and screening efforts.

Education

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Biological Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.

Experience

  • At least 2 years of people management.

  • At least 3 years of laboratory experience in academic or industry settings.

  • Experience working in regulated environments.

  • Industrial experience in sample management.

  • Prior histology experience such as microtomy and H&E staining preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership abilities.

  • Understanding of biobanking operations.

  • Expertise in sample procurement and partnership development.

  • Strong theoretical understanding and hands-on laboratory skills.

  • Excellent documentation, writing, and presentation skills.

  • Preferred skills in nucleic acid isolation, PCR, RT-PCR, and next-generation technologies.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

This role requires working in a laboratory environment, handling biological samples, and operating various lab equipment. Strict adherence to safety protocols is essential.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $113,500.00–$147,000.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
