Robert Half Desktop Support Administrator in Carlsbad, California

Description

Robert Half is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Desktop Support Administrator for an onsite, 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity. The ideal candidate will possess 2+ years of hands-on experience working in a Windows and/or Mac environment, supporting end users, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring the seamless operation of IT infrastructure. This role is perfect for professionals looking to grow within a dynamic team and organization post-contract.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for end-user hardware and software issues in both Windows and Mac environments.

  • Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, peripherals, and mobile devices.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve software, network, and hardware issues efficiently.

  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access using tools like Active Directory (Windows) and Jamf (MacOS) as needed.

  • Ensure security compliance by maintaining systems, applying updates, and managing antivirus/endpoint protection tools.

  • Assist with system imaging, deployment, and upgrades across organizational devices.

  • Support office peripherals such as printers, scanners, and audiovisual equipment.

  • Collaborate with other IT team members to implement best practices and optimize system performance.

  • Document procedures, tickets, and resolutions to improve operational workflows.

  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, ensuring excellent customer service and user satisfaction.

    Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience providing desktop support in a Windows and/or Mac computing environment.

  • Proficiency with Windows 10/11 and macOS operating systems.

  • Basic knowledge of Active Directory, Office 365, networking (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP), and troubleshooting tools.

  • Familiarity with ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Zendesk) and documentation practices.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to handling technical challenges.

  • Strong organizational and time-management ability in a fast-paced environment.

  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills.

  • Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Modern Desktop Administrator Certification, Jamf 200) are a plus.
