Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of related lab experience is preferred.
  • Experience with HACCP, GMPs, and BRC is preferred.
  • Experienced with MS Office (Word, Excel).
  • Knowledge of the International Safety Protocol (ISP) and Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), Standards, and Regulatory Requirements of FDA, FSMA, and HACCP Programs.
  • Understand and comply with all company policies and procedures as well as all applicable local/state/federal regulations.
  • Work independently and as part of a team
  • Work with cross-functional teams and ability to work successfully under pressure in a fast-paced and challenging site environment.
  • Communicate and present information to all levels throughout the Morton Salt organization as well as internal and external staff, government authorities, auditors, customers, and vendors, occasionally under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations.
  • Interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Frequent exposure to industrial operations, such as temperature changes, dust derived from processing, moving machinery and equipment, such as a front-end loader/forklift, and moisture.
  • Light to moderate physical lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds without assistance when required.
  • Regularly required to sit or stand, reach, and move about the facility.
  • Work performed in a plant environment.

Job Summary

The FSQR Technician is accountable for testing and inspecting products/processes at various stages of production. Evaluates statistical data for reasonability to determine and maintain the quality and reliability of products. Ensures food safety, legality, quality, and authenticity of all products produced.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct quality inspections of equipment, materials, and processes.
  • Conduct routine HACCP (FSP) inspections.
  • Conducted plant inspections of products and processes, as the FSQR Manager prescribed.
  • Perform calibration of laboratory and foreign material detection equipment, where applicable.
  • Complete analytical test method validation studies.
  • Responsible for analytical testing of in-process and finished product testing according to prescribed procedures and data logging into the database.
  • Test incoming materials and ingredients according to the testing schedule.
  • Performs all duties, observing all EHS standards and laboratory safety guidelines.
  • Performs and maintains legible records of preventative maintenance for all laboratory equipment on a prescribed basis.
  • Maintain FSQR document storage and backup system.
  • Provide backup support for other FSQR technicians on an as-needed basis (including vacation/absence coverage).
  • Work flexible hours and provide after-hours support, including weekend operations, as required.
