General Summary

This position will assist the nursing faculty in the BNLC building with preparation for skills training for courses as well as assist in maintaining training equipment, answering phones and including clerical and clinical responsibilities for the undergraduate and graduate nursing faculty. This position will also assist with the simulation centers of Amarillo and Canyon.

Responsibilities:

  • Advises pre-nursing and prospective students about admissions statuses, policies, and nursing programs.

  • Mentors/counsels pre-nursing students, tracking student progress, and advises appropriately as to their eligibility to progress through the nursing curriculum

  • Collects and organizes student record information in order to determine the ranking order of candidates for the pre-licensure nursing program.

  • Advises health science students and prospective students about admissions statuses, policies, and nursing programs.

  • Works with faculty to assists nursing students and faculty in uniform and equipment purchases

  • Organizes and conducts activities for pre-licensure students

  • Manages the nursing scholarship program, which includes proposing, organizing, implementing, and reporting on the scholarship program for the Department of Nursing. These functions include coordinate funding with the various contributors and university personnel.

  • Teaches IDS courses for pre-nursing majors, including conducting study skills and student success seminars.

  • Assist in events for the department including recruitment and retention efforts and community health fair events for the department of nursing

Necessary Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • One (1) year advising students in higher education or equivalency

  • Computer skills

  • Professional Communication Skills

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality

  • Work cooperatively with others

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree

  • Three (3) years of related experience

  • Teaching IDS courses
