POSITION SUMMARY: Work as a member of the team to provide quality services to preschool aged children and their families enrolled in the program by promoting the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of the children and encouraging parent involvement. Work under the direction of the Teacher and/or Assistant Teacher to provide a successful, safe, and supervised educational setting for children while they are in the Head Start environment (classroom, outdoor play area, and field trips.) Assist with the development of individual and group goals as needed. Assist with all transition activities. Pick up and deliver meals as deemed necessary in the assigned center. Assist and participate with mealtime, family style in accordance with Head Start Nutrition Policy.

QUALIFICATIONS: The person must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent and be willing to pursue a CDA. Substantial experience in daycare, early childhood, or related programs is preferred. The person should be able and willing to work with preschoolers, families, and other staff. Clearance from New York State Central Registry of Child Abuse and Maltreatment and New York State Criminal Background check is required as well as a pre-employment physical and Tuberculin screening and every two years thereafter. Parents of children in the program will be given consideration, depending on experience.
