JOB DESCRIPTION

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

The Lead Grill Cook is a variable hour position responsible for assisting in the supervision of the operations of the Fore Star Grill at Pheasant Run Golf Club. Responsibilities include supervising staff, scheduling, ordering, and inventory control. Responsible for preparing and/or directing the preparation of food to be served, complying with all applicable sanitation, health, and personal hygiene standards, and following established food production programs and procedures. Ensure appropriate use of facility supplies and equipment to minimize loss, waste, and fraud.

EXAMPLES OF WORK: (Note: These examples are intended merely as illustrations of the various types of work performed.)

  • Ensure that all food is prepared according to the recipe and served at the proper temperature, presentation, and all other specifications and standards as determined by management.
  • Maintain facility and all equipment to ensure cleanliness and food safety/quality.
  • Verify inventory of all beverage cart products before, during, and at the conclusion of shifts.
  • Maintain Health Department and Township standards at all times.
  • Conduct quality line checks at regularly scheduled intervals.
  • Organize, train and manage to ensure that proper food handling, alcohol serving, and cleaning procedures are utilized.
  • Review the freshness of food (proper expiration dates) and follow proper food storage procedures.
  • Handle guest complaints with a sense of calmness, urgency, poise, professionalism, and good judgment.
  • Establish excellent guest service and satisfaction as a priority through personal example and follow-through.
  • Train, assist, supervise and schedule all F&B staff: maintain appropriate staffing levels for each shift.
  • Responsible for all aspects of inventory management and control.
  • Operate large-volume cooking equipment such as grills, deep fryers, or griddles.
  • Assist wait staff with server duties and customer service as required.
  • Wash, cut, and prepare foods designated for cooking.
  • Clean, stock and restock workstations and display cases.
  • Order and take delivery of food and non-food supplies.
  • Coordinate kitchen operations and food preparation with golf personnel to ensure customer expectations and timelines are met.
  • Ensure proper kitchen closing procedures are followed.
  • Responsible for adherence to all regulations, laws, and procedures related to alcohol handling and service.
  • Pickup of supplies as needed.
  • Manage and facilitate special events.
  • Coordinate with pro shop/cart staff on a daily basis and during events.
  • Promote a team atmosphere.
  • Perform other duties as required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

A minimum of 2 years of cooking and food preparation experience is required.

ServSafe Food & Alcohol Safety certification preferred; must be able to obtain certification within 30 days of employment.

Minimum age of 18 years old.

Ability to handle money accurately, conscientiously, and honestly.
