Reference #: GAFLUS202411074EXTERNALENUS What You Will Do: Gannett Fleming's Environmental Management & Natural Resources Team is seeking one or more highly motivated technical editors and graphic designers/artists to provide technical expertise across a diverse client base for a variety of assignments. The successful candidates will be part of teams of planners, scientists, and engineers working to deliver infrastructure projects in the public sector across a variety of markets and sectors.

While the ideal candidate(s) would be based out of our Harrisburg, PA office, we are open to other locations for the right individuals. We envision these positions to be on an hourly, as needed basis.

Duties and responsibilities will include: Working independently and collaborating with teams of planners, scientists, and engineers to deliver infrastructure projects for public clients across a variety of markets and sectors. Leading the preparation of high quality and visually appealing technical reports for a variety of audiences using publishing software. These reports vary in length, complexity, and necessary time to prepare them, and are subject to scrutiny. Writing original content under the direction of a skilled planner, scientist, or engineer. Proofreading, revising, and editing text prior to publishing. Creating visually appealing and easy-to-understand illustrations to inform a variety of audiences. This often includes simplifying complex and/or detailed design and scientific data to a format that is easily understandable by the layperson. Formatting text and spreadsheets. Positioning text and illustrations in an engaging way, for print or online or both, using knowledge of type styles and size and layout patterns. Checking preliminary and final proofs for errors and making corrections. Sending files to a commercial printer.Education | Experience: Minimum Qualifications Associates degree in English, communications, graphic arts, publishing, or related field required. 2-5 years of progressive experience required, preference given to those with experience within an engineering firm Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals. Strong technical writing abilities. Proficient in MS Office products. Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator. Strong critical thinking, active listening, and speaking skills. Artistic aptitude.
