Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Senior Associate Dean for Academic Planning and Administration for the Office of the Dean, Rutgers Law School. This position reports to the Dean and serves as a strategic leader and change agent for administration and academic planning for the Dean's Office, working collaboratively to develop and implement best practices and policy and cultivate strong professionals throughout the law school.
This role works closely with the Dean and the Vice Deans on the Newark and Camden campuses on law school issues related to academic human resources and other human resources issues; faculty affairs and contract process implementation; organizational leadership; training & development; communications; budget and financial planning; and represents the Dean with both internal and external constituents. The Senior Associate Dean for Administration also provides direct advice, guidance, and policy development on law school matters, which have substantial implications for law school operations and priorities. In addition, the Senior Associate Dean for Administration works closely with leaders throughout the law school on human resources, revenue generation and budget, leadership development, and communication initiatives. The position carries out these responsibilities by coordinating the work of large numbers of faculty, staff, and other administrators in the law school.
Responsibilities
The Senior Associate Dean for Academic Planning and Administration, as a member of the senior leadership at the Rutgers Law School, manages the operational functions of the Law School, and supervises the human resources functions performed by others, providing advice and consultation to the Dean, faculty members, staff, and students. In addition, this position is responsible to know, understand, support and execute the mission and strategy of the RLS.

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
* This position requires a master's degree in a related field or a J.D.
* A minimum of (7) years of proven experience in higher education academic administration is required.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Must demonstrate at least 8 years of experience of increasing responsibility in a leadership or managerial role
* Significant experience in academic management and administrative service within a higher education institution.
* Broad understanding of basic institutional policies and procedures relevant to professional education.
* Familiarity with current federal and state regulations and policies related to the higher education academic setting.
* Familiarity with shared governance in higher education.
* Ability to juggle multiple responsibilities and shifting priorities, including crisis management.
* Ability to work efficiently and cooperatively with university faculty and administrators with various levels of authority.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in law school administration is preferred as is experience with complex organizational structures.
* The ideal candidate will have experience within a public AAU institution of higher education, have knowledge of budget management and communications, and have a deep understanding of the law school landscape.
Equipment Utilized
* Position uses PC and must be proficient in Outlook and the full suite of MS Office programs.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
* This position will be required to travel regularly throughout the state of New Jersey, having a primary physical presence on the Rutgers University-Camden or Rutgers University-Newark campuses, and a regular, secondary presence at the non-resident campus of the Rutgers Law School. There will also be periodic travel to Rutgers University-New Brunswick as necessary.
* Position serves as a key advisor to the Dean, Vice Deans, and other members of the senior administration at the law school on a range of continuing and emerging administrative issues.
