Summary

Working with limited supervision, the Senior Tax Analyst – Compliance has primary responsibility for various highly technical projects as assigned by tax management team. Independently initiates contact with management, employees, and third parties to address complex transactions. Gathers and analyzes complex information to present to management in order to make informed decisions.

Major Responsibilities

  • Maintains responsibility for the reading, understanding, and application of tax law, regulation, and rules to Subaru of America (SOA) and its subsidiaries.

  • Researches and updates new or revised guidelines pertaining to any tax law relevant to the company.

  • Works closely with Tax Management team to validate technical interpretations and impacts of new legislation.

  • Supports, as needed, the planning and execution of audits and inquiries from governmental authorities. Documents corporate positions for legacy and future reference and/or defense.

  • Independently interacts with Subaru management, employees, and third parties while exploring and answering questions of a more complex nature.

  • Uses learned skills to field problems/opportunities of non-routine and/or irregular nature from management, other Subaru personnel, or outside third parties, resulting in the ability to assess new and/or unusual circumstances and their impact on the company.

  • Supports Tax Managers in gathering information and performing analysis related to the tax compliance.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Independently identifies issues and solutions and presents these to the Tax team.

  • Supports management in preparation of research and responses related to notices received and executing estimated payments on an as-needed basis.

Required Skills and Personal Personal Qualifications

  • Experience in consolidated and combined corporate income tax compliance.

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting/Finance.

  • Strong knowledge of tax principles.

  • Ability to research new, revised, and often-complex tax issues.

  • Ability to present solutions to tax management and weight these solutions accordingly.

  • Ability to develop and coordinate documentation of tax related policies and procedures.

  • Ability to handle multiple ongoing projects within deadlines.

  • Ability to revamp processes to make them more effective and efficient.

  • Competent in utilizing standard PC software and tax software programs.

  • Ability to work independently upon non-routine problems and achieve logical and accurate conclusions; conclusions will be reached and documented by the use of available research services and current office skills.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to apply and transfer experience and learned skills to new and previously unidentified tax problems.

  • Ability to prioritize work, remain focused, and deal with unknown and challenging situations with results that will be consistent.

  • Advanced degree in relevant field, such as Taxation preferred.

  • Public accounting experience related to corporate income tax return preferred.

Work Environment

  • Must be able to deal urgently, but rationally, with unknowns that have critical impact on the company and its operations.

  • Must be able to handle sensitive and proprietary information.

  • Work Environment: Hybrid Role: Remote work 2 days per week (After 90 Days Onboarding)

Educational/Experience Requirements: 4-year college degree (BA, BS,), with 8 to 10 years relevant experience.

Compensation: The recruiting base salary range for this full-time position is $83100 - $95000 / year. (P3) Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
