Posting Summary
A Postdoctoral associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Santanu Malakar in the Department of Chemistry, Rutgers University-Camden.
This one-year position will support the work of Dr. Malakar's laboratory (earliest start date 7/1/24). The specific project will be agreed upon at a later date, but will align with Malakar group's research interests in developing new molecular catalytic platforms for nitrogen reduction or reductive coupling of carbon monoxide.
The expertise requires a doctorate in chemistry specializing in synthetic inorganic/organometallic chemistry and catalysis, handling air-sensitive chemicals and the use of Schlenk line and glovebox techniques. Additional experience in electrochemistry and conducting electrocatalytic experiments is a plus but not required, and training opportunities are available.
Collaborative opportunities outside of the Laboratory are encouraged and are available with science faculty affiliated with the Center of Computational & Integrative Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, and Mathematics.
Responsibilities:
The associate shall:
1. Under the auspices of the principal investigator and collaborators, design and execute laboratory experiments that aid in developing novel ligand and organometallic catalysts for their specific research projects aligned with the group's interests.
2. Expected to participate in regular group and division meetings to share results.
3. Pursue and be successful in acquiring internal and external funding, and publishing in peer-reviewed journals
4. Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in independent projects related to the interests of the research group in the field of chemistry and catalysis
5. Aid in the maintenance and management of laboratories, shared facilities, instrumentation or space
