Universal Banker

What Does a Universal Banker Do?The responsibilities listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability to perform the position in a satisfactory manner. Individual abilities may result in some deviation from these guidelines.

  1. Accepts and accurately processes all financial transactions including cashing checks, processing checking, and savings account transactions; issues official checks, cashier\'s checks, money orders, and other negotiable instruments; assists in balancing accounts; cross-sells and places customers in appropriate account products; cross-sells other Bank services and refers customers to the appropriate departments.
  2. Makes decisions regarding the opening of new accounts; completes account documents requiring customer signatures; checks credit history through Chex Systems.
  3. Responsible for balancing cash drawer; following cashing handling and balancing procedures.
  4. Balances cash vault and ensures audit safety and soundness of branch.
  5. Knowledgeable and skilled in the areas of new accounts, teller, vault, safe deposit, and branch operations.
  6. Provides training and support to less experienced Universal Bankers and other staff.
  7. Assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, and all state and federal banking laws, rules and regulations; adherence to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
  8. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

This is a full-time, non-exempt (hourly) position. There is minimal travel required, as this position serves both Generations branches in Camden, AR. The working hours are M-F, 7:30 - 5:30. Some Saturday mornings (8:30 - 12:00) are required.

Environment and Physical Activity

The Universal Banker is in a non-confined office type setting in which they are free to move about at will. While performing this position, spends time writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to twenty-five pounds), carrying, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusts focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, squatting, kneeling, and reaching.

The Universal Banker may operate any or all the following: telephone, smart phone, copy machine, adding machine (calculator), scanner and image systems, scanning equipment, computer terminal, laptop, personal computer, tablet, printers, or other office equipment as directed.

Mental Demands.The Universal Banker must be able to read documents or instruments, detailed work, problem solving, customer contact, reasoning, math, language, presentations, verbal and written communication, analytical reasoning, stress, multiple concurrent tasks and constant interruptions.

What Are The Requirements?

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS -you must have these to be considered for this role:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • One or more years of customer service.
  • Ability to fulfill the essential physical and mental functions of the job as listed above.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -you will stand out if you have these:

Intermediate bilingual language ability (English and Spanish).

High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Experience with Microsoft Office programs.
