Scope of Responsibility:

The Operator Technician Level 2/3 will be responsible for the Injection Molding operations. The operator technician 2/3 demonstrates leadership skills, taking on additional responsibilities within the team to achieve factory business objectives of safety, quality, productivity, customer service, cost and environmental protection.

The primary accountabilities of the role include daily production, quality and sanitization procedures, safety compliance, equipment maintenance procedures, data collection, housekeeping responsibilities, meeting facilitation, problem solving and continuous improvement as part of a work team.

The Operator Technician 2/3 works within a structure that requires considerable leadership, ownership and interaction with other team members in the same production unit as well as other production units and support functions.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibility may include but not limited to the Operation, Cleaning, Lubrication, Inspection, Troubleshooting and Changeover of non-automated and automated injection molding equipment. Understands operating system for process control, adjustment and troubleshooting in relationship to injection molding equipment.

  • Knowledgeable of plastic and chemical properties and their relationship to the manufacturing process / equipment. Supports plant engineering team in design and experimental manufacturing product/process in determining equipment capabilities and next generation of formula / packaging design.

  • Responsibilities include strong computer skills and understanding of SAP and statistical process control (spc) systems.

  • Assist maintenance, engineering team, contractors and operating team members in troubleshooting and performing repairs on production equipment. Takes initiative to participate and support implementation of continuous learning opportunities. Seeks and shares knowledge in the work team to further develop skills of team members and self. Understands how to access EAM to issue a work request notification. Has responsibility for the PM star point role, working with the Operating Team, Area/Team Leader, and Focus Resources to prioritize activities on scheduled PM days.

  • Confirms availability of raw / packing materials needed for current and next scheduled production run. Coordinates with others on the operating, planning, and logistic team to ensure availability of materials. Effective communication with the finishing lines to ensure preform availability. Utilizes SAP for Bill of Material, Goods Movement, Stock Requirement and Production Schedule to ensure availability of materials.

  • Understands and adheres to Colgate Quality, GMP and Micro (Cleaning and Sanitization) standards and guidelines. Daily responsibilities for performing quality sampling may include visual checks for conformance as well as completing housekeeping/cleaning activities. Enters quality inspection results into SPC. Understands SPC Control Chart Interpretation and makes corrections as required.

  • Understands and adheres to EHS requirements for the facility. Adheres to Foundational Safety Expectations (FSE’s), wears personal protective equipment (PPE) where required. Supports accident investigation and forward actions identified. Addresses behaviors of team members as needed.

  • Responsibility for safe operation of forklift in unloading of materials from delivery vehicles and delivery of those materials and supplies to the assigned storage locations or production areas as needed. Direct responsibility for bulk truck and rail unloading of raw materials.

  • Every team member has the responsibility to fully utilize our resources to optimize our productivity and to contribute and meet the needs of our customers, businesses and each other.

  • Responsible for (POC) Point of Contact Role for the team.

  • Understands the goals of visual workplace (VWP) and performs housekeeping activities as per established protocol. Supports and takes leadership roles in housekeeping assessments. Stays abreast of plant and team’s overall performance via visual, written, and verbal communications.

  • Facilitates / takes a leadership role in scheduled reviews of team production performance and uses information to drive continuous improvement opportunities. Utilizes and applies continuous improvement tools such as Root Cause Analysis in identifying opportunities to resolve issues, implementing forward actions to improve results.

  • Demonstrate personal leadership, including demonstration of Colgate-Palmolive Managing with Respect values.

The Individual

Education:

High school degree or equivalent required. Vocational school or technical institute preferred.

Experience:

Minimum 3 years manufacturing/production/operations experience and/or 2 years technical college required.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range $ - $ USD

Pay is based on multiple non-discriminatory, individualized factors including but not limited to experience, job-related knowledge and education, skills and office/market location. In addition to base salary, salaried employees are eligible for annual discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing and, for Executive-level (salary grade 16 and above) roles only, long-term incentives in the form of Restricted Stock Units and/or Stock Options.

Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable benefits plans then in effect, all salaried employees are also eligible for a competitive benefits package which includes:

  • Paid Sick Leave: Based on location and consistent with applicable state and local law, employees receive a minimum of 40 hours of paid sick leave on January 1st of each year

  • Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees may take up to eight weeks of paid parental leave and 12 weeks of unpaid leave (varies for employees with fewer than 12 months of service and is subject to hours worked requirements)
