Location/Division Specific Information

Customer location in Cambridge, MD.

The Role:

  • Play a key role performing media and buffer as well as stockroom and chemical management support

  • Drive excellence in media services through right-the-first-time preparation of media formulations, compliance adherence, safe lab techniques, workload scheduling, and client happiness

  • Champion innovation and practical process improvement in the laboratory

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain records to align with regulatory requirements, applying current Good Documentation Practices (GDP). Maintain areas in a high state of inspection preparedness.

  • Complete tasks associated with media and buffer preparation operations at customer request (e.g., services may include calculations, aseptic technique, chemical inventory, troubleshooting, cell culture media prep, dilutions, microbial agar plates, and pH titration).

  • Perform the weighing and dispensing of raw materials for solution prep, filtration, labeling, and transfer of product.

  • Verify, calibrate, and use common and specialized lab equipment.

  • Draft and revise sophisticated documents such as media request procedures (MRPs), work instructions, GLP documents. Use related specialized electronic systems.

  • Identify and support the implementation of continuous improvement projects. Perform related duties as assigned by Supervisor/Manager.

  • Follow established safety and environmental guidelines and procedures for all work performed to maintain a safe, highly effective, and efficient environment for our team.

  • Maintain stocked solutions throughout lab space using established services and procedures.

  • Order, receive, unpack, and stock replenishment for stockroom inventory. Restock personal protective equipment stations.

  • Act as a liaison between customer service team and our customer.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree (BS/BA) in a scientific field (Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology or related field) from an accredited college or university preferred. Alternatively, we accept equivalent experience with at least 1 year of laboratory experience.

Beyond that, the qualifications are:

  • Experience in a laboratory setting; preferably experience in media prep and tissue culture.

  • Skill in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner with fluctuating workload or last-minute changes.

  • High level of attention to detail in operations, quality, and documentation.

  • Communicates effectively and ability to thrive within our team environment.

  • Proven excellence in customer service.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills; written and oral.

  • Diligently and accurately recognize and report problems

  • Decision-making, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.

  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint).

  • Experience writing laboratory procedures and work instructions.

  • The job requires a lot of walking and standing, lifting and carrying up to 35 pounds, and handling chemicals that are potentially harmful.
