About Division MSD

Within the Materials and Structural Analysis Division (MSD) we have 3 different market segments each with its own Business Unit. Life Science, Material Science and Semiconductor. We enable customers to find meaningful answers to questions that accelerate breakthrough discoveries and ultimately change the world. We design, manufacture, and support a broad range of high-performance electron microscopy instruments and workflows.

Our worldwide Electron Microscopy colleagues are dedicated to our customers' pursuit of discovery and resolution to global challenges.

We have multiple opportunities to join our Installation Engineering team at different levels: Installation Engineer I, II, and III. Qualifications for each level will be dependent on education and years of experience.

Target Locations: New York State, Boston MA, SF Bay Area CA, and Hillsboro OR.

Must be near a major airport and able to travel 80%

The hourly range estimated for the different level of positions found below.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.

Installation Engineer I: $23.36-$37.21/hr

Installation Engineer II: $28.85-$46.15/hr

Installation Engineer III: $36.42-$58.27/hr

Installation Engineer, Field Service (region)

As an Installation Engineer, you will have the unique opportunity to make a significant impact in the field of installing new equipment in our customers facilities. You will be responsible for installing electron microscopes onsite at customer locations, ensuring flawless installation and providing world-class support throughout the process. Depending on your technical skills and experience level we will set a “cut to the bone” training program in place, allowing you to learn and grow at an accelerated pace, getting you ready for your first Field trip to one of our customers.

The training consists of a formal instructor-led training courses at our global training centers combined with on-the-job learning in the assigned region with experienced engineer mentors. During the training program we expect you to travel extensively within the region to gain invaluable technical skills in electron microscopy and experience in field service activities on a variety of electron microscopy systems.

Your area of travel is regional but also international a travel can be requested

Job Responsibilities:

  • Install electron microscopes at customer locations in North America by;

  • Supporting the preparation steps of your upcoming assignment

  • Execute the installation and setup of our sold equipment from move-in to customer acceptance

  • Work with 3rd party contractors to ensure a smooth installation progress

  • Give our customers the best possible install experience on their newly installed equipment with clear communication and good technical skills

  • Collaborate with customers to determine their specific needs and requirements

  • Cultivate and develop positive working relationships with Thermofisher Scientific colleagues and customers assuring the highest level of customer experience.

  • Offer & seek technical assistance and guidance throughout the installation and operation process with colleagues and supporting departments.

  • Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering exceptional service and resolving any issues

  • Timely and accurate recording of your activities. Document the work done and works according to standard operating procedures.

Job Requirements:

  • Proven experience with installing, maintaining or building up of Electron Microscopes

  • Associate’s degree in mechatronics, mechanical / electrical / electronic, or any equivalent engineering major strongly preferred. High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.

  • Willingness to learn and fast-track your Installation career

  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Eager and quick learner with an enthusiastic and hands-on mentality

  • Highly motivated to go for the goals set and take on the challenge at hand

  • Able to obtain a valid passport and travel frequently as required up to 80%

  • Must have a valid driver's license.

  • IT skills in Microsoft Windows and Office environments.

  • Good English language skills in word and writing.

  • Ideal location for this job is to be living in close proximity to an international airport

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in Oregon is $0.01–$0.01.
