DATA ANALYST, MIT Energy Initiative, to serve as an advisor to the Institute Innovation Fellow (IIF), helping to conduct analysis across an array of projects. Reporting to the Public Sector Data Manager, will primarily focus on building key aspects of the Global Clean Energy Investment Monitor (GCIM) project, for which the IIF serves as principal investigator. The GCIM is a joint project of MIT’s Center for Energy and Environmental Research and the Rhodium Group, a research firm and builds off of and expands from the domestic Clean Investment Monitor launched in late 2023. Responsible for research and analysis within the IIF’s research agenda, including economic policy, climate policy, energy policy, sustainability, and industrial/manufacturing policy. Build and maintain databases for the Global Clean Investment Monitor (GCIM) by compiling and analyzing data on global clean energy subsidies. Collaborate with MIT CEEPR and the Rhodium Group to update and produce original research for the Clean Investment Monitor (CIM). Design and build data architecture, pipelines, and products to solve climate policy and other policy data problems. Support the drafting and publishing of research papers, working papers, op-eds, and other written products by analyzing GCIM data. Present findings, approaches, and processes to the team clearly. Participate in public-facing research projects by preparing talking points and materials with the MIT CEEPR team.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree required and a minimum of two years of relevant experience required. Preferred: Research experience in government, public policy or related field; extensive data analysis skills and experience, including data management and analysis in excel; strong entrepreneurial capabilities, including ability to implement a long-term and technical plan of action with minimal supervision; experience working on climate change, sustainability, energy policy and/or trade policy as well as economic issues; strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills; experience advising and working with senior officers of an organization; strong organizational capabilities; ability to work collaboratively.
