This job contributes to Starbucks success by providing planning, project management and financial oversight in new store or renovation construction projects while maintaining the highest standards of excellence in delivering the Starbucks experience in our stores. Manages the construction process so that projects are completed on time and within budget. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.

As a project manager- construction , you will…

  • Develop and manage budgets consistent with timeline requirements for new store development and renovation projects .

  • Manage and monitor project schedules, progress, and costs to ensure projects are completed on time and effectively. Consolidate, communicate, and manage all issues and risks affecting the project. Communicate project status to cross functional teams accurately and on time.

  • Manage and coordinate all phases of the development process with cross functional teams. Monitor general contractor performance through development phases. Maintain established development schedules to allow store to open on time. Oversee ordering and tracking of materials and equipment. Visit job site regularly to perform due diligence and monitor quality. Address concerns and maintain consistent follow-up on any outstanding issues.

  • Manage the permitting and approval phase of the development process and ensures all proper approvals have been received prior to construction phase.

  • Build and Maintain relationships with authorities having jurisdiction to ensure seamless store openings.

  • Support Store Development and Operations goals by participating and contributing in planning and strategy meetings. Plan and manage construction processes to ensure that programs are aligned with company business goals and objectives.

We’d love to hear from people with:

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in a role performing project management job functions for construction projects including permitting and approvals.

  • 5 + years of experience in a role delivering 15 or more concurrent projects in a retail or restaurant environment (QSR)

  • 7+ years of experience in a role bidding and negotiating for construction projects

  • 5+ years of experience in a role performing financial analysis, budgeting, and planning for construction projects

  • 5 + years of experience using Microsoft365, MS Outlook, MS Excel, and project or construction management program(s), such as MS Project, Procore, Smartsheet

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to lead teams and partner development

  • Comfortable communicating at all levels of the organization

  • Comfortable providing coaching, feedback and recognition

  • Construction representative performance discussions and reviews

Project Management:

  • Strong project management skills

  • Ability to influence and meet project deliverables

  • Ability to understand and work within a project budget

Data Management:

  • Ability to work within construction database, reporting and order management software

  • Ability to interpret and make decisions based on data and reports

Construction Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of construction terms and concepts

  • Full understanding of industry and construction best practices and standards

  • Able to lead all construction activities in areas of responsibility

Technical:

  • Lead annual planning and store tours

  • Annual capital plan

  • Regular capital plan updates and forecasts

  • Weekly project updates

  • Drawing review

  • Project Budgets in Siren

  • CRiM

  • GC bidding and negotiation

  • Manage LL Work

  • Delivery of Possession

  • LEED Documentation

  • FAR Updates

  • Punch list

  • Reconciliation

  • Monthly RD Touch-base(s)

  • Vendor / GC management

  • Develop / maintain jurisdictional relationships

Store Development Knowledge:

  • Strategic planning experience

  • Business acumen and ability to apply to store development planning

  • Strong knowledge of Starbucks leasing requirements

*If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
