If so, we encourage you to apply to be a Legal Office Assistant for Nevada County Child Welfare Services, a division of the Nevada County Department of Social Services! This position further requires initiative, determination, rigorous paralegal skills, and a desire to see families and children succeed. Under general supervision, the Child Welfare Services Legal Office Assistant is required to perform specialized and responsible clerical work involving knowledge of legal terminology and procedures; to prepare, accept and/or process legal documents; prepare findings and orders for the Court, provide notice parents, children, attorneys and tribal representatives reflecting the type of Court hearing within statutory guidelines. The legal office assistant is expected to notice tribes to determine whether a child is eligible for tribal membership. Other required work duties are but not limited to performing a variety of general or specialized clerical duties related to filing, form processing, record maintenance, mail, typing or data entry; obtains and compares information related to department records, programs and performs related work as required.

Nevada County employees can opt to receive dental and vision insurance without opting for health insurance coverage as well. This will give employees more flexibility to match their choice of insurance plans to their specific needs. Delta Dental is the dental provider offered through Nevada County and VSP Vision Care is our vision care provider.

Retirement

The County is a member of the CalPERS retirement system and provides the opportunity for voluntary contributions to a 457 deferred compensation account through Nationwide by way of pre-tax and Roth payroll deductions.
