NORTHWESTERN ENERGY Energy Supply Engineer or Analyst in BUTTE, Montana

Location in Butte, Helena or Bozeman preferred; Billings, Great Falls or Missoula may be considered.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR ANALYST INCLUDE:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business administration, economics, finance, marketing or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to demonstrate and maintain a good safety record
  • Strong computer, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of FERC and PURPA requirements
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple conflicting tasks and demands
  • Relevant experience may include business strategy, market research, financial analysis, statistics and communication
  • Valid Drivers License and satisfactory driving record
  • Have or develop a working knowledge of NorthWestern Energy supply operations
  • Knowledgeable of electricity generation, energy production calculations, and associated metrics
  • Ability and aptitude to plan work, anticipate issues and develop solutions to meet schedules is essential
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing of assignments and priorities of the Energy Supply Group
  • Ability to pass a drug test and a background check
  • Master's Degree in business administration, analytics, economics or related field is a plus
  • Experience in business development or electric utility preferred
  • Knowledge in project management principles and fundamentals desired

  • Valid Drivers License and satisfactory driving record
  • Have or develop a working knowledge of NorthWestern Energy supply operations
  • Knowledgeable of electricity generation, energy production calculations, and associated metrics
  • Ability and aptitude to plan work, anticipate issues and develop solutions to meet schedules is essential
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing of assignments and priorities of the Energy Supply Group
  • Ability to pass a drug test and a background check
  • P.E or ability to obtain P.E. a plus
  • Experience in electric distribution or transmission engineering, modeling and construction preferred
  • Knowledge in Project Management principles and fundamentals desired

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Demonstrate ability to communicate and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Author work products in support of regulatory filings including the application of utility tariffs
  • Incorporate operational, legal, regulatory and environmental factors in completion of assignments
  • Travel to meetings and conferences (Up to 10% travel per year)
  • Scan, print, file and retrieve paper work
  • Adhere to company safety standards and the Code of Business Conduct & Ethics
  • Ensure all actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy's values, mission, and strategic business objectives

ENGINEERING POSITION WILL ALSO INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING DUTIES:

  • Work on complex technical specifications, energy forecasting, energy modeling, contracts and compliance requirements
  • Combine engineering knowledge with communication skills to engage internal stakeholders, external stakeholders and the general public
  • Work on complex opportunities to evaluate and/or integrate new energy supply resources.

Full-time position.

Pay range for Analyst: $54,000 to $121,800 per year, depending on experience; pay range for Engineer (must have engineering degree): $72,200 to $135,200 per year, depending on experience.
