Job Overview
The Hematology/Oncology Clinical Pharmacist is a part-time (0.6 FTE) infusion pharmacist based at Ridges Cancer Center, responsible for providing comprehensive clinical pharmacy services within a complex infusion pharmacy setting, with a focus on oncology and specialty infusion therapies.
This role is integral to ensuring seamless pharmacy operations, high-quality patient care, and medication safety in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. This position is ideal for pharmacists who excel in direct patient care, value interdisciplinary collaboration, and are committed to delivering high-quality hematology/oncology and infusion pharmacy services.
This role works closely with an interdisciplinary care team to optimize medication use, improve patient outcomes, and ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards. The pharmacist serves as a clinical resource for patients, providers, pharmacy staff, and learners while actively contributing to process improvement, formulary management, and quality initiatives. Additionally, this position includes education and training responsibilities, supporting pharmacy students, residents, and interdisciplinary team members.
Job Expectations:
Provide advanced clinical pharmacy services for oncology and specialty infusion patients, including daily order verification, therapy monitoring, medication adjustments, and documentation per department policies.
Act as a key clinical resource, offering consultative support to providers, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams regarding pharmacotherapy, medication safety, and supportive care.
Ensure appropriate medication selection, dosing, and monitoring in accordance with evidence-based guidelines and formulary protocols.
Oversee sterile compounding and hazardous medication verification in compliance with USP <797>/<800> standards and institutional policies.
May serve as a preceptor and mentor for pharmacy students and residents, providing clinical education and training.
Participate in quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing medication safety, workflow efficiency, and patient-centered care.
Perform staff pharmacist duties as needed to ensure seamless pharmacy operations across assigned infusion sites.
Adapt to schedule modifications and site reassignments as needed, ensuring continuity of care across all system infusion sites.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency OR a minimum of one year of clinical pharmacy experience in a complex care setting.
Current Minnesota Pharmacist license or eligibility for licensure prior to start date.
Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency OR equivalent oncology practice experience.
Three years of experience in oncology, infusion, or specialty pharmacy practice.
Board certification (e.g., BCOP) is strongly preferred.
