Posting Summary

Reporting to the Director of Research Development, the Team Lead for Complex Proposals and Strategic Positioning will lead existing staff and grow a team of professionals dedicated to supporting the development of large, complex grant proposals to facilitate high-impact research, interdisciplinary initiatives, and build infrastructure. They will lead this team in all aspects of complex proposal preparation including strategic planning, project management, proposal development and grantsmanship review, writing and editing support, as well as graphic design. In collaboration with the Director, the Team Lead will identify and support the internal selection process for a strategic subset of limited submission funding opportunities, and will manage the external (red team) review process for large, complex proposals.

The Team Lead will independently provide administrative and functional supervision for Research Development professionals and staff dedicated to supporting the development of large, complex grant proposals. The Team Lead will implement continuous improvement activities, streamline processes, and oversee the development of new resources to support the UVM research community. The Team Lead will provide on-boarding and training for research development professionals on the Complex Proposals and Strategic Positioning team.

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required

· Minimum of 5 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience

· Experience in research development, writing, and submission of large, complex grant proposals required

· Demonstrated customer service experience required

· Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, required

· Analytical skills and effective presentation skills required

Desirable Qualifications

· Advanced degree in a STEM or writing discipline

· Experience reviewing and editing material in a wide range of disciplines desirable

· Demonstrated success in receipt of large federal awards as a result of research development activities desirable

· Project management experience desirable

· Ability to develop/interpret budgets for sponsored projects desirable

· Experience using Pivot-RP funding database, and InfoReady Review competition management software

· Prior management/supervisory experience desirable

Anticipated Pay Range $82,000 - $85,000

Other Information

Special Conditions Open to current UVM employees only , This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule with an option to split time between campus and elsewhere, in accordance with the university telecommuting policy, This position is eligible for full-time telework in accordance with the university telecommuting policy, Background Check required for this position
