Amergis P/T School LPN 1.1 in Burbank, Illinois

The 1:1 School LPN/LVN identifies and treats health disorders among students in the school setting. The 1:1 School LPN/LVN provides instruction for the student’s general wellbeing and disease prevention. The School LPN/LVN monitors the student’s physical conditions in the school setting and refers the student to appropriate resources as needed. The work of the School LPN/LVN is performed in compliance with his/her LPN/LVN scope of practice and according to state education codes.

*Early Childhood Student

*Needs: seizure monitoring

*School Hours: 12:00pm-2:30pm W/ Bussing: 11:30-3:05/3:10

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides first aid care and medically prescribed services

  • Maintains security of school health supplies and medication in the school setting

  • Provides follow-up evaluations on students as required

  • Corresponds with parents on health needs of children

  • Records immunizations, health findings, and other relevant health data

  • Identifies abnormal growth and development, symptoms of disease and discuss with parents

  • Develops and maintains health records on students

  • Develops positive working relationships

  • Supports student medical needs during transport as applicable

    Minimum Requirements:

  • Current LPN/LVN license for the state in which the nurse practices

  • Current PPD or Chest X-Ray

  • One year prior professional nursing experience in school setting preferred

  • Pediatric experience preferred

  • Current BLS card

  • Considerable knowledge of medical disorders and treatment

  • Considerable knowledge of child growth and development

  • Some knowledge of public health problems and procedures for treatment in coordination with other health and social service agencies

  • Some knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations affecting the delivery of school health services

  • Understands the school organization and the community served

  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required

  • Computer proficiency preferred

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
