Job Title: Construction Materials Technician

Job Description

We are seeking entry-level Construction Materials Testing Technicians for our Atlanta, GA CMT Division. Primary duties include performing quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) tests on soils, masonry, reinforced concrete, structural steel, post-tensioning, fireproofing, and conducting soil and concrete laboratory testing. Successful candidates will provide quality control testing and ICC special inspection duties for various construction projects, including commercial, retail, educational, low to high-rise, manufacturing, and transportation projects.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality control testing and ICC special inspection duties for various construction projects.

  • Conduct on-site observations and inspections to ensure compliance with local building codes and project contract documents.

  • Collect samples as per ASTM and project requirements.

  • Perform specific QA/QC tests on construction materials and building components according to ASTM, ACI, and other relevant standards.

  • Maintain detailed records of observations, inspections, and test results.

  • Work unsupervised in the field as the company's representative under the direction of a Professional Engineer or Project Manager.

Essential Skills

  • 6+ months of AEC experience (Engineering Tech, CMT, GL, etc.).

  • Clear communication skills to act as the 'eyes and ears' of the project from the field to the office.

  • Ability to obtain required certifications such as ACI Level I (minimum) for concrete sampling/testing, ICC Certifications in soils, structural concrete, post-tensioning, and fireproofing.

  • Radiation safety training for the use of Nuclear Density Gauges.

  • Ability to read plans and specifications.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and within teams to achieve goals.

  • Detail-oriented.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Some construction experience is preferred but not required.

  • Must be able to walk and stand continuously throughout the day.

  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 70 pounds on a regular basis.

Work Environment

The position is primarily field-located on civil construction sites. Travel may be required. While the lab is located in Buford, frequent visits to the lab are not expected. The company provides a vehicle with a fuel card, boots, and PPE. A phone reimbursement of $75 per month is also offered. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
