We are looking for you to join our team as a Staff Systems Administrator based out of Buffalo, NY and become part of Northrop Grumman's Amherst Systems; an organization focused on the development and production of state-of-the-art Simulation Systems solutions.

What You'll get to Do

  • Maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators.

  • Apply security measures and hardening to computing systems.

  • Installing, hardening and patching Linux/Windows operating systems.

  • Implement recovery procedures to include backup and potential restoration.

  • Maintain the plan of action and milestones (POA&M) for cybersecurity vulnerabilities; create and maintain installation, maintenance, and upgrade procedures.

  • Perform security content automation protocol (SCAP) test, perform manual checks to verify compliance with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guide.

  • Conduct systems security audits against requirements with Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS).

  • Interact with users and evaluate vendor products.

  • Make recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinate installation and provide backup recovery procedures.

  • Develop and document technical processes and procedures as needed.

  • The Systems Administrator may also set up administrator and service accounts, maintain system documentation, tune system performance and install system wide software.

  • The successful candidate will be strong in Linux/Unix administration and will preferably have experience with Windows Administration.

  • Design, develop, automate, and maintain productivity tools using programming, database or scripting languages to improve software configuration management release process

  • Configuration Management tool administration (GitHub, Jira, Jenkins, SonarQube, Confluence)

Basic Qualifications for a Staff Systems Administrator:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 12 years of relevant IT experience (or 10 years with a Master of Science Degree, or 8 years with a PHD). An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Experience with Software Development.

  • Red Hat or CentOS Linux System Administration.

  • U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SELinux configuration experience

  • PAM Module experience

  • Vulnerability scanning experience using SCC/openSCAP/ACAS/Nessus

  • RMF STIG / JSIG

  • Virtual Machine management – VMware

  • Experience with Windows Operating Systems/System Administration

  • Experience in computer/network hardening

  • Experience with CISCO network switches

  • Experience with Red Hat Linux Operating Systems

  • Experience generating and installing software applications

  • Experience with tools such as GitHub, JIRA, Jenkins, SonarQube, Confluence

  • Experience working on Department of Defense (DOD) software configuration management efforts

  • Experience working on business or engineering full life-cycle projects from project inception through launch

Salary Range: $141,400 - $212,000

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
