Brief Job Description

There are multiple positions available.

This position is for a support analyst with a strong focus on Networking. Responsibilities include system administration for Network-based operating systems, coordination and handling of technical support problems for Member campuses, as well as monitoring, administering and troubleshooting network operating systems and connecting infrastructure. Troubleshoot the equipment performance and the health of remote and internal campus systems. Participate in conversations regarding critical situations with ITEC’s senior management. Assist Member campuses with Network issues and with the planning and implementation of installations and upgrades. Investigate and evaluate software which promises to be useful to the SUNY support community. Support senior management level staff in determining system requirements and capabilities, as well as appropriate hardware and software configurations. Provide direction in the on-going process of support for member campuses. Assist with teaching seminars and conduct workshops as needed through the SUNY Center for Professional Development. Adhere to ITEC’s security policies and procedures and participate in training

The location for this position is in Buffalo, NY. An office location at a New York State or SUNY Institution may be possible.

Required Qualifications

  1. Experience managing and deploying enterprise networks (including switches, VLANs, routers, and access control lists – ACLs).

  2. Must be able to demonstrate familiarity/understanding of the OSI model.

  3. Good presentation skills, interpersonal skills, written and communication skills.

  4. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems or related field; or equivalent work experience.

  5. Available to work various shifts to assist with providing 24 × 7 support.

    Preferred Qualifications

  6. Operating system management experience (Unix, Linux, Windows, or Hypervisors)

  7. Experience managing VMWare NSX , Azure Stack HCI , or other SDN technologies.

  8. Experience managing Wide Area Networks and/or BGP .

  9. Familiar with Dell, F5, Cisco, Fortinet, and Cloud (Azure or AWS ) network products and services.

  10. Experience with Dell Open Manage, Oracle Enterprise Manager, Cisco, Dell Force10, QoS, SDN , iSCSI or NFS protocols.

  11. Work experience in an educational setting.

  12. Programming experience.

  13. Experience managing NextGen firewalls and/or load balancers

  14. Experience providing technical support.
