NOTICE OF POSITION

P OSITION: The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Tonja M. Williams Knight, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

SOCIAL WORKER COMMITTEE ON SPECIAL EDUCATION BUFFALO PRESCHOOL SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAM

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must be New York State certified in Social Work and hold a Licensed Clinical Social Work Certification (LCSW). It is required that candidates must attach a PDF or a screen shot of their certifications. A minimum of two (2) years of social worker experience, with experience with working with students and teachers in an early childhood setting is preferred. Candidates should have experience in providing clinical support and in demonstrating ability in a wide range of therapeutic modalities.

DUTIES: Duties include, but are not limited to, establishing an environment to enhance individual growth and promote a positive self-image; processing and facilitating on-going services for students with disabilities and their families; social skill development, and educational opportunities and acting as a key member of an interdisciplinary team consisting of instructional personnel, psychologist, counselors, and other team members as required. The social worker will provide Parent Counseling and Training for all students/families in the program, counseling in an individual or group setting, supporting classrooms within the preschool program. The social worker may administer adaptive behavior and parental checklist measures, secure outside data needed to prepare for CSE/CPSE meetings and perform classroom observations when needed. The social worker will work individually or in groups with students in need of support services and counseling, offer strategies and support to parents, and perform any assigned duties as deemed necessary and appropriate.

APPOINTMENT: Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.
