Who will you be working with?
You'll be joining our innovative Wabtec Bus Solutions division, a team dedicated to developing leading systems for the Transit Bus & Rail industries including eBus charging systems, innovative passenger door systems, access ramps, and wheelchair lifts. Our group combines technical expertise with a deep understanding of product requirements to deliver industry-leading solutions and lasting value to our customers and the communities they serve.
How will you make a difference?
As a member of the Wabtec Bus Solutions division, you will be responsible for leading the electrical engineering team focused on door, ramps, & lifts controls, charging/power transfer systems, and relay/contactor product lines. You'll oversee the design and development of electrical products, ensure compliance with industry standards, and collaborate with customers and stakeholders. You'll report directly to the Director of Product Engineering & Product Management.
What do we want to know about you?
You may be a good fit if you have:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical or electronics engineering (ABET accredited)
Master’s degree and/or MBA is a plus
10+ years of relevant experience & 3+ years in leadership
Proven leadership in project management, team mentoring, and prioritization
Experience with development of electrical/electronic assemblies in transportation
Strong knowledge of NPD Stage Gate and electrical design, systems, and components
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and root cause analysis
Ability to drive change and innovation
Familiarity with transportation industry components and standards is a plus

What will your typical day look like?
Oversee design and development of electrical products for bus/rail systems
Lead and develop a team of local and remote engineers
Set team goals, priorities, providing coaching, and clear feedback
Regularly improve/adapt internally for more effective and efficient work
Drive design and approve electrical and mechanical designs
Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations
Collaborate with customers and stakeholders
Drive projects from concept to production launch
Develop and enforce processes for timely, cost-effective, quality deliverables
Participate in technical discussions with customers
Drive initiatives to maintain Bus Solutions' market leadership
Grows and mentor team to improve long term results
What about the physical demands of the job?
Primarily office-based work at Buffalo Grove office
Use a computer for extended periods
Occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds
Stand, walk, and navigate facilities
Occasional travel (15%) to customer and manufacturing sites
You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
