Butler America Electro Mechanical Engineer II in Buena Park, California
Title: Electro Mechanical Engineer II Location: Buena Park, California Duration: Permanent Salary Range: $100,000 - $130,000 (based on experience and education) Job Summary Under minimal supervision, the Engineer is responsible for the management of technical requirements and provide design and support on technical activities, engineering analysis for electro-mechanical contactor design and development. Responsible for project engineering, design reviews, technical proposals and releasing documents. Performs prototype fabrication, breadboard evaluation, qualification testing and evaluates results. Performs cost/performance trades and makes recommendations for design improvements. Primary Responsibilities
Review customer requirements and decompose them to detailed and derived requirements
Prepare Technical Specifications for the mechanical design, fabrication, procurement, etc.
Design mechanical 3D models using CAD and create mechanical drawings
Design and/or improve electromagnetic coils to be used in contactors
Perform electromagnetic analysis for the contactor designs
Analyze and select materials for reliable performance in various environments
Perform structural and thermal calculations to support FEA simulation
Review and checking mechanical drawings, stack up tolerance analysis, sketches, etc. for the project
Coordinate with electrical engineering and other departments on requirements validation and design verification
Provide support to the Sales and Marketing groups in preparation of proposals, including sizing and selection of contactor types and engineering man-hour estimates
Collaborate in a team environment and other departments as required
Travel on business trips and/or field assignments as required to carry out departmental tasks and functions up to 10% of the time
Basic Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or University in Mechanical Engineering discipline with minimum of 5 or more years of experience with electromechanical component designs or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 1-2 years of experience in electromechanical component designs
Comprehensive understanding of molding, die-casting and precision machining
Minimum of 5 years of professional 3-D solid modeling design experience using Autodesk Inventor
Comprehensive FEA software (ANSYS) experience
Design to cost
Design for manufacturability
Must have effective written and verbal communication skills
A creative and innovative mind
Must be well organized, detail oriented and have the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
