JOB SUMMARY: Are you looking for a fantastic career at Aqua? We have a great opportunity for a Chemist II located in Bryn Mawr, PA. This role will be reporting to the Organic Chemistry Chief and the primary responsibility is to analyze water and wastewater in our state certified laboratory. This analysis includes detailed documentation by maintaining various logs and reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Performs moderately complex analysis of water samples. Analyzes compliance and operational samples using various analytical techniques. Enters data into the LIMS. Works safely and productively in an analytical laboratory. Prepares chemical solutions used in analyses. Maintains required logbooks and records for laboratory accreditation requirements. Performs and documents required quality control tests consistent with laboratory standard operating procedures, good laboratory practices and lab certification requirements. Prepares reports on all analytical work. Operates sophisticated instrumentation, including LC/MS and GC/MS, for chemical analysis. Successfully demonstrates capability in specific analytical methods and analyzes periodic Proficiency Test samples required to maintain accreditation. Assists in performing research to improve existing methods and to develop new and better methods, as requested. May mentor lower-level Chemists. Performs other assignments and assist with other tasks or projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS Science Degree Required. Degree in chemistry, or environmental sciences preferred. 3-5 years of laboratory experience. Experience testing water/wastewater matrices, or environmental laboratory preferred..

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Experience with LC/MS and GC/MS preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and method development. Excellent laboratory skills and ability to demonstrate competency with specific analytical methods. Strong customer service skills and excellent interpersonal skills needed to work with internal and external customers on investigating problems and issues. Excellent computer skills with competency in Microsoft Office suite, Word, PowerPoint and Excel High level of attention to detail required for analytical methods in an accredited laboratory environment. Ability to work independently. Ability to accurately and neatly document Quality Assurance and Quality Control as outlined in the lab's Quality Manual and Standard Operating Procedures. Ability to learn and operate instrument-related software and LIMS. Ability to communicate effectively (clearly, concisely and pr fessionally) with laboratory staff and internal customers. A team player able to work effectively in a team fostered multi-tasking environment. Be able to provide coverage on a few select weekends a year. This is to provide coverage for selected microbiological and chemical analyses.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: May be subject to noise, wet and/or humid conditions, mechanical, electrical, gas exposure hazards, fumes, dusts, mists, gases and/or poor ventilation atmospheric conditions. May involve standing for long periods of time.
