Job Description
::: {bind="html: pageData().job.description"} General Summary: Performs a variety of advanced functions related to the operations of the Human Resources department. Provides support to customers regarding Human Resource issues.
Essential Duties: Review, confirm and process compensation, benefits, and position related actions ensuring transactions are processed timely, accurately, and in compliance with policy and procedure; maintain applicable databases and spreadsheets. Review new or revised positions for appropriate classification based on position-specific information, determine pay grade and appropriate exemption classification ensuring compliance with Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and assist with creating and/or modifying job descriptions. Provide HR related analytical support and data analysis, perform compensation, benefit, and/or position related research, and prepare related reports which may include exporting/importing data from multiple data sources and/or spreadsheets while maintaining data integrity. Maintains our financial software to ensure employee, position, benefit, absence, and compensation data accuracy, requiring significant cross-functional partnerships with other departments such as Treasurers Office, Budget, and Information Technology. Perform administrative duties related to employees, positions, benefits, absences and compensation data, including but not limited to maintaining position control data; generating reports related to employee records; completing open records requests; conducting external salary or benefit surveys; and participating in salary or benefit surveys from other entities. Administers new hire orientation and the processing of all new hire data. Maintain accurate and organized electronic and hardcopy record keeping and file systems related to department operations and activities. Assists employees, supervisors and managers with interpretation of policies, explanation of employee programs, processes/procedures and resolution of issues as needed. Provides back-up to administrative staff.

Education Required: High School graduation or its equivalent. Preferred: Bachelors Degree in business management or a related field.
Experience Required: Three years of Human Resources or related experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred: Five years of Human Resources or related experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Required: None. Preferred: HR certifications such as PHR and/or SHRM-CP.
Physical Demands Typical: Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear. May occasionally lift and/or move objects of low to moderate weight. Frequently works under time pressures to meet deadlines.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Typical: Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with strong verbal and written communication abilities. Possess intermediate level computer skills in the use of word processing, spreadsheets, and data entry, as well as the ability to quickly learn software related to department functions. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Must be able to complete work with a strong attention to detail and possess strong organization skills. Possess strong customer service skills with the ability to deal effectively and courteousl with employees and the general public. Ability to prioritize projects and meet established or anticipated deadlines. Ability to adapt to change while simultaneously maintaining focus on organizational and operational objectives
