TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION E066 Land Surveyor I, II or III - Brownwood in Brownwood, Texas

Leads multiple Department survey parties or oversees contracted survey parties for the purpose of determining boundaries and topography of real property or oversees the compilation, update and maintenance of real property maps; provides analysis and technical assistance, support, coordination and advice for the development, implementation and maintenance of land surveying-related information technology/systems (ITS/IS) and applications to include global positioning and geographic information systems (GPS/GIS). Work requires contact with governmental and private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.Essential Duties for Land Surveyor I: Analyzes field notes to resolve land boundary conflicts.Coordinates and schedules work for photogrammetry and aerial mapping surveys.Coordinates surveying consultant's contracts Identifies and defines parcels for use in transportation projects by using relevant elements of surveying, property description writing, mapping, law, research, measurement, analysis and computation. Monitors survey parties and plans future jobs.Originates, signs and seals property descriptions and oversees setting of monument property corners Performs Global Positioning System (GPS), design and/or construction surveying. Serves as expert witness for the state in court cases involving boundary disputes.Trains and instructs other survey personnel.Uses a variety of surveying software and related hardware.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Additional duties for Land Surveyor II: Provides guidance for staff pursuing SIT and RPLS registration.Provides technical guidance to district personnel for surveying related inquiries.*Reviews completed surveys to ensure accuracy and adherence to required specifications.Additional duties for Land Surveyor III: Develops guidelines, procedures and policies for district surveying activities.
