Job Summary:
As Vail Resorts Retail’s Senior Manager for Strategic Planning & Special Projects, you are responsible for supporting the Chief Public Affairs officer in the planning of the team’s goals and initiatives, and for creating and managing the tools and strategies that will deliver team effectiveness. You will be accountable for developing, driving and communicating a portfolio of strategic initiatives, in collaboration with the Public Affairs Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and key stakeholders. You will maintain direct communication and collaboration with the CPAO, SLT, and HR to ensure enterprise alignment, execution and adoption of strategic initiatives. The role requires a highly resourceful individual with strong learning agility, emotional intelligence, self motivation, organization, and curiosity. The ideal candidate will be a high-potential leader with a passion to learn and develop with a proven track record of demonstrating drive, ambition, learning agility, business acumen and emotional intelligence

The budgeted range starts at $89,100 - $105,000 + annual bonus. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience

Job Responsibilities:
Lead and organize CPAO’s major cross-functional meetings and communications, and determine correct cadence, groups, and communication strategies.
Plan and develop key Division leader-led events to achieve desired outcomes (e.g., management and leadership meetings, Division off sites, Town Halls etc.). Facilitate and manage agendas, materials, review cycles, timelines, etc.
Develop and implement Executive-level planning and communication tools that deliver high SLT functionality and strategic alignment with the EC, including portfolio structure for strategic initiatives, annual cycle calendar, planning and presentation templates, and reporting dashboards
Create and manage the agenda of SLT meetings to ensure the highest priority items are addressed. Work with senior leaders to ensure all meeting goals and agendas are clear and identified in advance, and that decisions and critical follow-ups are circulated shortly afterward. Ensure that the CPAO’s calendar and time allocation reflect the appropriate prioritization.
Partner closely with the CPAO to support key areas of work to allow them to focus on highest priorities, including suggesting and managing the best time allocation and use of 1:1 and group meetings.
Drive timely and consistent communication to facilitate a clear understanding of ongoing projects and their prioritization within the organization; engage as needed with appropriate stakeholders to ensure alignment and progress towards meeting objectives
Define and develop innovative ideas and business priorities through engagement, collaboration and motivation with the SLT and key stakeholders across the organization
Deliver high-impact solutions to the SLT by identifying key issues, defining appropriate work structure, and driving workable recommendations that create value
Challenge the status quo and drive decisions and actions necessary to improve our business processes or deliver on strategic initiatives; as a sounding board to the CPAO and SLT, ask strategic and challenging questions and provide your independent perspective on Public Affairs efforts and priorities

Job Qualifications:
High potential leader with passion to learn and develop, and a proven track record of demonstrating drive, ambition, learning agility, and business acumen
Bachelor’s Degree Required
Minimum of 5-7+ years leading cross-functional teams and developing strategy within the Retail or Tourism sectors
Experience reporting to and supporting a C-level executive, providing leadership/support on Strategy development and execution
High levels of resourcefulness, emotional intelligence, self-motivation, organization and curiosity
Technology advocate and advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite applications
Strong written and verbal English communication skills are required
The expected Total Compensation for this role is $89,100 - $105,000 + annual bonus. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.

Vail Resorts offers a ‘Hybrid’ work environment for Broomfield-based roles where employees must live within 50 miles of the Broomfield office and work on-site Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and have flexibility to work off-site on Mondays and Fridays.
