Altec AIR Design Engineering CO-OP Opportunity

Altec AIR is looking for a Design Engineering CO-OP for our facility in Broomfield, Colorado.

Design Engineers at Altec AIR are involved in a wide variety of project types, including New Product Development, Applications, Product Sustainment, and Manufacturing & Supply Chain Support. The Altec AIR Design Engineering Coop will serve in a developmental role for the purpose of gaining design experience in a manufacturing environment while working under the direction of experienced engineers.

Pay Range: $20.00 +

Hours & Term: 40 hours/week starting August 2024 through January 2025.

Duties: Work alongside engineering staff on Engineering Work Requests, which may involve product design and/or sustainment, production improvements and cost savings, field support and other requests Creation and editing of 3D engineering models (SolidWorks) and associated engineering prints, primarily involving sheet metal but also purchased components such as valves, compressors, and other fabricated components. Building prototypes, designing and executing test plans Working with AC and DC electrical circuits utilizing components such as control boards, switches, solenoids, relays, breakers and associated wiring Working with domestic and international suppliers Working with Technical Support staff to assist in resolving customer issues Working with the Production Team to support Lean Manufacturing and Quality initiatives

Qualifications: Current student in good standing in an accredited Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering Undergraduate program Completion of coursework in 3D modelling/drafting, engineering statics & dynamics, and thermodynamics. Completion of machine design course(s) preferred. Basic understanding of pneumatic system components: Air compressors; pressure and flow control valves; storage tanks; sensors and transducers. Basic understanding of AC and DC electrical circuits, switches, solenoids, relays, breakers. Basic understanding of refrigeration systems and related heat transfer concepts. Familiar with Solidworks: Part, assembly and drawing creation, configurations, sheet metal modeling
