MMD Medical, A Velosity Company is searching for a Swiss Machinist Lead to support our Swiss Machining department at our manufacturing facility in Brooklyn Park, MN on night shift. The purpose of the Swiss Machinist Lead is to instruct, train and coach all hourly personnel in all aspects of the job, including proper techniques, work instructions, production methods, quality assurance and plant operation. You must use judgment, experience and technical knowledge to accomplish goals and objectives. Reports to: PM Supervisor The typical pay range for this role: $32.00 - $37.81/hour This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography, internal equity and other relevant factors. Ensure job packages are printed and staged for the floor in a timely manner to prevent machine down time. Consistently produce accurate records of completed parts including accurate entry of scrap and nonconformance's when required into the ERP system and any hard copy requirements. This includes the use of job cards and WIP tags. Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs verbally or by documenting in shift-to-shift transfer books. Issue material and gages to jobs as needed to prevent machine downtime. Monitor 2nd ops and OSV schedules and operations to ensure products move to subsequent operations per the dispatch. Communicate any machine issues and coordinate with Maintenance for service requests needed. Coordinate and execute sorting or rework activities associated with NCMR's with support from Quality. Tool boss entry and assistance with tooling outages or issues. Training and Spot Checking Assist level 1 & 2 machinists as needed in process specific areas to ensure they are completing product to quality and customer requirements. Daily spot checks on all machines on the floor visually and dimensionally for each shift to ensure quality standards are being maintained. Ensure Swiss Machinists or operators are meeting production rates and throughput expectations of all jobs for each shift. Ensure training for operators is completed in the quality system and properly documented per GDP (Good Documentation Practices). Guide all employees on proper cleaning of tooling and machine components to ensure consistent performance of all machine components and tooling. Administrative Coach and mentor all hourly personnel on best practices for machining and operating in a production atmosphere to ensure employees across all shifts are working to the same standards. Enforcing attendance expectations for staff, ssisting with performance appraisals, personnel issues and sitting in on interviews with potential candidates. Reports machine, material and quality concerns or employee issues to Supervisor. Technical Skills Operate Swiss machines up to 9 axis as required per manufacturers recommendations as well as follow SOP's to produce quality parts per customer prints. Set up Swiss Machines on most intermediate to high complexity level production jobs unaided as required by work instructions and set up sheets. Extensive understanding of G and M code. Some macro program knowledge. Operational knowledge of many types of machines and controls. Verify all products meet quality specifications both visually by using a microscope and dimensionally in accordance with specifications or other Quality System requirements. This includes the use of vision systems, CMM's as well as hand tools. Demonstrate the ability to read and understand QC calc/ SPC and use the data to perform offsets, tool changes and maintain dimensional integrity. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED Certificate- Machine Trades or equivalent work experience. Valid identification and the ability to work legally in the United States. Ability to effectively and efficiently balance competing priorities with strong attention to detail. 2+ years of experience, preferably in a Medical Device or Component manufacturing environment. Able to use a computer, calculator, read and write in English and do shop Math. Blueprint Reading. Able to use measuring instruments such as scales, calipers, micrometers and dial indicators. Work Environment: This is a non-smoking, professional tool shop with normal lighting, and climate control. This position requires the employee to work on a manufacturing floor where they may be subject to airborne contaminants and chemical odors, exposure to heat, noise, dust, dirt, oil and waste The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an individual encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. Protective Clothing Required: When in certain locations of the facility, eye and ear protection are required. Closed-toed/ Slip resistant shoes are also required in certain locations.
