The pay range is $85,500.00 - $153,900.00

As a Senior Engineer, you serve as a specialist in the engineering team that supports the product. You help develop and gain insight in the application architecture. You can distill an abstract architecture into concrete design and influence the implementation. You show expertise in applying the appropriate software engineering patterns to build robust and scalable systems. You are an expert in programming and apply your skills in developing the product. As a Sr. Engineer, you’ll take the lead as you use your technology acumen as an experienced Firewall Engineer to join our Network Security team. This role is essential for managing, reviewing, and aligning firewall policies across various segments and technologies of our organization including retail stores, distribution centers, headquarters, and data centers. The successful candidate will ensure that firewall policies are compliant with industry standards such as PCI, SOX, GLBA, and our internal Information Security policies.

Key Responsibilities of This Role:

• Develop and maintain comprehensive firewall governance processes and procedures.

• Conduct thorough reviews and audits of existing firewall rules to identify and rectify non-compliance issues.

• Collaborate with Business Information Security Officers (BISOs) and application teams to ensure alignment with security requirements.

• Consult with internal teams on network connections and application integrations.

• Design and implement governance frameworks for cloud segmentation policies, CDN policies, store, distribution center, HQ and data center segmentation policies.

• Enhance automation tools and processes for the review, approval and ongoing segmentation testing of firewall policies against standard security guidelines.

• Engage in proactive risk assessment and mitigation strategies to safeguard all network segments including but not limited to analyzing the effectiveness of existing segmentation strategies.

• Document all policy changes and maintain clear audit trails for compliance verification.

About You

• 4-year degree in computer science, Information Security, or a related job experience.

• 5+ years of experience in network security, with a strong focus on firewall management and compliance.

• In-depth knowledge of compliance frameworks including PCI, SOX, and GLBA.

• Proven experience in developing and managing governance policies for large-scale networks.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or similar.

• Experience with Check Point, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, and Iptables firewalls.

• Proficiency in automation tools and scripting languages like Python.

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
