CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS This position will be responsible for supporting the growing demand of our business by providing expert color matching and development. This position will mainly support our Brooklyn Park facility, however, will also travel to other facilities to provide support as needed. Additionally, this position will help accelerate the training of other color blenders within the facilities organization. Develops, implements, and provides others with helpful training materials and technical documentation. General Knowledge of pigments, their capabilities and other color relevant raw materials and their interaction. Basic Understanding of color science principles and their application to create color match formulas and contribute to color development work Above standard level in creating and matching color formulas Optimizes color formulas for quality Accountable for contributing color solutions at industry professional level to projects of above standard complexity Knows and operates best suitable instrument / software choice for intended purpose. Functions under minimal supervision Establish a timeline by required due date Acts as knowledge resource within facility color teams. Trains others. Operate tinting and mixing equipment and material handling equipment in an efficient and safe manner Complex blends refinement and support Assist blenders with more difficult workloads Collaborate with technical and sales team to ensure customer processes are executed Limited travel for color support and customer visits Limited travel to multiple facilities to facilitate blender training Limited interaction with outside customers under supervision and guidance Support continuous improvement initiatives Complies with and displays knowledge of all safety and security regulations and maintain a clean work area Additional duties as assigned POSITION REQUIREMENTS FORMAL EDUCATION: Required: Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age BS/BA in Color Science or HS degree plus 12 years of relevant industry experience as defined as Paint, Coatings, Surface preparation, or Color KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE: Required: Experience in color development or color matching Preferred: 5 years of experience in color development and color matching defined as: Effect Colors' formula development and styling proposals including special optical effects Experience with face-to-face customer interactions Experience in training others Computer knowledge for basic inputting, communication, and data analysis Basic understanding of measurement conversions TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Required: Preferred: Quality Management Systems Color theory, ACS Color training; Color/Colorants technology, high performance pigments TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: (TIME SPENT AWAY FROM HOME OR OTHER TYPICAL OFFICE LOCATION) * 25% WORK SCHEDULE: * Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week This position is not eligible for sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future, including conversion to H1-B visa.
