Medical Mutual of Ohio Life Policy Administrator in Brooklyn, Ohio
The Life Policy Administrator position is a hybrid role that will require you to be on-site at our Brookklyn, OH office 3 days per week.

Responsibilities
Life Policy Administrator I
Prepares and scrubs incoming documentation, including applications, checks and other documents for scanning and document retention and initiation of workflow. Reviews documentation and determines appropriate distribution for departmental workflow. Monitors life group email resource account and responds to inquiries or routes for timely response.
· Reviews and distributes new business and policy changes to appropriate department/ individual based on standard set of guidelines. Updates checklist for tracking and reporting information accordingly. Logs all new case submissions, checks accuracy, and returns to the sending party with instructions if information is missing.
· Monitors and responds to inquiries received via life group administration email resource account; routes non-routine inquiries to appropriate individual/department. Verifies self-administered premium payments received are submitted with proper group remittance documentation.
· Responds to routine client inquiries or direct calls and routes to appropriate department for response. Efficiently handles all distribution of customer form and document requests.
· Coordinates processing and implementation of portability contracts. Issues contracts to customers who choose to port or convert their life insurance after termination. Processes the application, calculates the modal premium, sets up billing and banking information and issues the actual policy.
· Reviews and prepares documents for scanning and document retention.
· Acts as back up for processing electronic enrollment files and term reports.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Life Policy Administrator II
Interacts with Sales and Service customers to define and finalize routine to moderately complex life benefits in compliance with state and federal mandates. Processes and sets up new group life and disability insurance cases. Prepares and audits group policy and certificate documents. Coordinates with membership billing department to ensure life premium rating and benefit parameters are set up accurately and billing is accurate. Responds to inquiries from customers and consults with marketing and underwriting to identify product specifications and requirements.
· Reviews and compiles new group documents in preparation for issuance. Ensures benefits can be systematically administered and are in compliance with state regulations, as assigned.
· Codes routine to moderately complex group benefits and creates policy and certificate documents in certificate development system, as assigned.
· Creates and releases billing documents and verifies billing for accuracy. Tracks and logs premium information for self-administered clients for underwriting and finance reporting, as assigned.
· Reviews and audits issuance documents to ensure accuracy prior to issuance. As back- up, conducts peer audits to ensure accuracy.
· Resolves inquiries with minimal assistance by analysis and research, and coordinates response to inquiries in conjunction with sales, service, and other internal departments.
· Participates in department projects as assigned by management, such as testing of system upgrades, enhancements to systems etc.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Sr. Life Policy Administrator

· Resolves inquiries independently by analysis and research, and coordinates response to inquiries in conjunction with sales, service, and other internal departments.
· Participates in department projects as assigned by management, initiating process improvements that support overall administrative cost savings.
· Creates and maintains procedural documentation (standard operating procedures)
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Life Policy Administrator I
Education and Experience:
· Associate Degree in Business Administration or related field or equivalent combination of education/training and experience.
· 2 years office or operations support experience in or equivalent experience in in a life insurance or similar company.
Technical Skills and Knowledge:
· Knowledge of standard office procedures and equipment (multi-function copier/printer/scanner, conference phone, etc.).
· Strong data entry skills.
· Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel) and proficiency with data file transfers.
· Strong document management system skills (OnBase)
· Basic knowledge of life policy contract language and provisions and life benefit amounts
· Strong customer service skills.
Life Policy Administrator II
Education and Experience:
· Associate Degree in Business Administration or related field or equivalent combination of education/training and experience.
· 3 years of experience as a Life Policy Administrator or equivalent experience in a life insurance or similar company.
Professional Certification(s):
· Working towards Associate or Fellow, Life Management Institute (ALMI or FLMI) Certification, preferred.
Technical Skills and Knowledge:
· Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills.
· Thorough knowledge of life insurance products and policy issuance.
· Strong math skills.
· Good research, problem solving and organizational skills.
· Ability to work independently with minimal assistance.
Sr. Life Policy Administrator
Education and Experience:
· Associate Degree in Business Administration or related field or equivalent combination of education/training and experience.
· 5 years of experience as a Life Policy Administrator or equivalent experience in a life insurance or similar company.
Professional Certification(s):
· Associate or Fellow, Life Management Institute (ALMI or FLMI) Certification, preferred.
Technical Skills and Knowledge:
· Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
· Thorough knowledge of life insurance products and policy issuance.
· Strong math skills.
· Strong research, problem solving and organizational skills.
· Capacity to work independently with ability to make decisions requiring high level of judgment.
