Position Summary:The Solution Based Casework (SBC) Supervisorwill provide supervision for four Case Planners and a Case Aide to ensure best practices and excellent record keeping as required by ACS Child Welfare Prevention Standards. In this capacity, the supervisor also has to ensure compliance with program/agency policies and procedures. The Supervisor will also provide guidance and support to the Case Planners consistent with the model to ensure fidelity and adherence to the model.

Essential Duties:

General responsibilities will be to:

  • Provide accountability, child welfare, and administrative supervision for up to four (4) Case Planners and a Case Aide.

  • Become trained and certified in Solution Based Casework (SBC)

  • ProvideAccountability Oversightto ensure that Case Planners comply with ACS accountability mandates, including;

  • Screen and Assign all new referrals within 10 days

  • timely registering of cases in PROMIS and Connections

  • timely completion, review, and approval of FASPs, Plan Amendments, and Progress notes

  • timely approval of case closings

  • ensure therapists enter contacts in the PROMIS system in a timely manner

  • ensure that all families and children are seen every month

  • work with the program director to manage compliance with model fidelity

  • Work with the Director to ensure that utilization meets the Performance-based funding requirement of at or above 90%

  • ProvideChild Welfare Supervisionto Case Planners in order to ensure that all children are safe and free of immediate or impending danger or serious harm.

  • provide weekly supervision to all Case planners consistent with ACS Supervisory Standards

  • discuss every case at least 2 times per month and review all case records at least 1 time per month consistent with ACS Supervisory Standards

  • document case discussions and case record reviews monthly in Supervisory Reviews for each case

  • provide trauma-informed supervision and weekly coaching and professional development to case planners

  • ensure that all required assessments are conducted in the first month of the case and 3 months thereafter

  • collaborate with all departments of ACS including FAP, DCP, OPTA, OPPP, or APA, etc., as needed to ensure the safety needs of children are being addressed

  • ensure compliance with all other ACS Prevention Standards, policies, and procedures related to CSEC, Safe Sleep, Domestic Violence, etc.

  • Must attend all Family Team Conferences.

  • ProvideAdministrative Oversightto ensure Case Planners comply with all agency policies and procedures, including;

  • ensuring that staff comply with agency conditions of employment related to attendance, hours of work/WorkForce One, and use of sick, personal, vacation time, etc.

  • ensure that all staff meet performance standards and comply with agency standards of behavior and code of conduct

  • complete performance evaluations and address performance issues in a timely and progressive manner

  • ensure that staff receives trainings as required by the agency, ACS, and program

  • Completes all other tasks related to the role of supervisor, such as provide trainings to staff (such as CORE) and participate in all monthly leadership meetings.

  • Promote a positive work environment

  • Ensure that all staff demonstrate ICREATE competencies in the execution of daily responsibilities, comply with TMHR conditions of employment as delineated in the Employee Handbook, and that staff meet performance and behavior standards of Code of Conduct and Anti-harassment policies. Utilize progressive disciplinary process when indicated.

  • Attend all program-related meetings as required

  • Train the Trainer (TOT) Responsibilities:

  • Prepare (TOT) and train online & in-person in the SBC Initial Training course

  • TOT prep:

  • In-person collaboration is an essential function of the job

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Phase 1: participate in Initial SBC Training

  • Phase 2: Co-train 2+ times: Initial SBC Training with SBC Central support (Jessica): (April/May + July/Aug)

  • Phase 3: Train independently (1+times) with SBC Central observation (Jessica/ Dana) (Oct/Nov/Dec)

  • Certified Coach/ Trainer for each Initial SBC Training Course:

  • 2 hours prep

  • 5 Seminars, approx. 2hrs each

  • 2 hours wrap up + administrative tasks

  • Skills and Role

  • Coach and influence supervisors & managers & FTC Facilitators.

  • As needed offer guidance on certification & proficiency (documents & observations.)

  • Train online & in person.

  • Offer training at the agency as needed for newly hired staff - frequency TBD by the agency (generally, 2-4 times a year)

  • option A: send staff to other agencies as needed for frequency.

  • option B: receive staff from other agencies as needed (particularly if there are less than 6 newly hired staff in the cohort.)

  • Train the SBC Supervisor course

  • TOT process briefer.

  • Course offered 1-2 times/ year.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree required in Social Work (MSW), Mental Health Counseling (MHC), or equivalent degree in any NYS license-eligible Mental Health profession. LCSW or equivalent licensing preferred.

  • Certification in Solution-Based Casework Model (SBC) required.

  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience working with children and families in a child welfare, mental health, or juvenile justice setting. Supervisory experience preferred.

  • At least two-year years’ experience practicing as a therapist/case planner is preferred but not required.

  • Bilingual preferred.

Key Competencies:

  • Willingness to learn and work within the Solution-based Casework philosophy and model.

  • Ability to work independently, as well as contribute to a team.

  • Strong clinical and administrative skills and very good interpersonal/communication skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to be flexible including being available on weekends and evenings as required or travel to another borough when needed.

  • Computer literate.
