ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Enrichment Specialist plays a crucial role in our afterschool program, responsible for creating and facilitating engaging, project-based activities that promote positive youth development across all age groups. By incorporating youth voice, choice, and staff's unique skills, they design thematic lesson plans that foster creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. Working closely with other staff, including Group Leaders and the Education Specialist, they create supportive and engaging environments that encourage learning, growth, and well-being. The Enrichment Specialist also coordinates enrichment opportunities, such as trips and special events, and ensures a safe, positive learning environment, contributing to the overall success of the program and ensuring every youth has a voice and choice in their learning journey.
Position Type: Part time, 20 hours per week
Curriculum Development and Implementation:
Develop and facilitate unique thematic, project-based lesson plans that incorporate youth voice and choice, ensuring they are age-appropriate, aligned with RiseBoro’s quality standards, and designed to drive student growth in creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking
Survey youth participants to determine areas of interest, create project-based learning opportunities that promote critical thinking, problem solving, communication, collaboration and creativity and remained effective in reinforcing previously taught skills
Strategically design and facilitate a wide range of enrichment activities designed to develop skills that go beyond the basics across Beacon’s service population, including Elementary, Middle School, High School, and adult participants
Instructional Support and Coaching:
Alongside the Education Specialist, observe and provide feedback to activity specialists, and group leaders, offering advice, modeling lessons, and documenting observations and feedback
Serve as an instructional coach and mentor for front-line staff, fostering their professional growth and supporting them in delivering effective, engaging activities that reflect the interests and needs of participants
Plan and implement on-site professional development sessions focused on instructional strategies, classroom management, and incorporating youth interests into activities
Student Engagement and Enrichment Coordination:
Supervise participants across all age groups, ensuring their safety, maintaining a conducive learning environment, and fostering strong relationships with and among youth
Coordinate and organize enrichment opportunities, including trips, special events, and partnerships, ensuring they provide meaningful experiences and align with the program's educational goals
Source, coordinate, and manage opportunities for trips, special events, partnerships, and unique experiences that enhance the enrichment offerings across Beacon’s diverse service population
Operational and Enrichment Coordination:
Assess the effectiveness of the curriculum and enrichment activities, making recommendations for adjustments based on student work, interests, and outcomes, and submit summary reports of student achievements and enrichment activities at the end of each cycle to program leadership and relevant stakeholders
Attend all required meetings, training workshops, and special events, even those outside regular program hours, to stay updated on best practices and program goals
Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success, safety, and enrichment of the program and its participants

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
HS diploma/GED and 2 years’ experience working with youth required
