When and where is this opportunity?

Position located at the Brookings, SD Daktronics campus, with the opportunity to travel the country. This position is open to candidates eligible to work in the U.S.

    What will work look like for me?

    Your exact responsibilities will vary depending upon assignment, but you can expect opportunities like these during your internship:

  • Learn about our product and how to interact with customers in our demonstration area, at a customer site, or in the field. Experience could include:

  • Attend trade shows and product demonstrations.

  • Travel to event sites to setup, operate, and load video display systems.

  • Manage the load out and shipping process post event.

  • Shadow our Field Service Engineers, Technical Services team, and/or our Control System Specialists.

  • Learn and practice troubleshooting techniques.

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair any hardware or software issues that arise during a product demonstration.

  • Design setup and test display systems with content at Daktronics prior to shipment.

  • Contribute to Daktronics Intern Group:

  • Attend Toastmasters.

  • Recruiting events.

  • Give internship capstone presentation and attend colleagues’ presentations.

  • Build and maintain professional relationships.

    This position directly works with the design, setup, quality, and support of integrated control and display systems. A unique aspect of this position is not only being able to technically work with these systems but developing an eye for what looks good on a display.

    Pay and Perks:The typical hiring range for this position is $17.50/hour to $20.0/hour based on the location of Brookings, SD. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including relevant education, experiences, location, and applicable local legislation.

    Qualifications

  • You can quickly learn technical product features and functions and can communicate to non-technical customers and users.

  • Can capture and evaluate non-technical customer feedback and organize to communicate to technical product managers and developers.

  • You have a strong interest in sports and can relate to stakeholders of sporting applications.

  • You’re an outgoing, self-motivated, flexible, well-organized person who is both empathetic and personable. You understand customers, so know the work schedule may include evenings and weekends. You can meet our academic, travel, and other requirements.

    Academic:

  • Applicant must be enrolled as a student and registered for at least 12 credits (undergraduate) or 9 credits (graduate) at the time of application.

  • Preferred applicant would be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree program related to Broadcast Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, or other technical degree. Will consider May 2025 and December 2024 graduates.

  • Completion of sophomore year in good academic standing.

  • Required to take a semester off from school to pursue the internship if not a graduate. Duration of internship will be a semester and a summer.

  • Must be able to commit to at least 40 hours per week. Overtime will be required, as needed, to support special events and travel.

  • Unofficial transcripts or web transcripts must be submitted with application to be considered.

    Travel:

  • Willing to travel up to 50% of the time on trips ranging in length from two days to two weeks, including some weekends.

  • Ability to travel by air and ground. Valid driver’s license and good driving record. Motor vehicle records will be check. Must be able to meet and maintain Daktronics Qualified Driver status.

  • Comply with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) requirements for operating Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMV):

  • Be at least 21 years of age.

  • Obtain state & company certification to operate a CMV with a gross vehicle weight rating from 10,001 to 26,001 pounds.

  • Employees will be required to participate in a driver exam road test.

  • Pass a medical exam, which includes drug test.

  • Physically able to connect trailer to vehicle.

  • Be able to operate large trucks with or without trailers safely in various weather and traffic conditions.

    Other:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Good organizational and self-motivation skills.

  • Fluent in English, written and verbal. Knowledge of Spanish or French helpful.
