Amneal Pharmaceuticals Manager, Operational Excellence in Brookhaven, New York

The Manager Operational Excellence supports continuous improvement and the development of site and functional departments operational excellence programs. Utilizes lean six sigma manufacturing principles, processes and tools to identify, define & implement systemic improvements that promote and sustain the overall business strategies and initiatives. Through project management, training and coaching of site personnel, eliminates waste and inefficiencies in industrial manufacturing facilities by recommending and implementing process improvements. Designs and implements continuous improvement tools such as KPI monitoring boards, OPEX training boot camp modules, coaching programs, employee ownership programs, kaizens, etc. As an integral part of the Site Leadership, the individual will partner with various business units to implement a sustained continuous improvement culture that will be part of daily operations, meet and/or exceed key performance indicators on all fronts of operation aspects such as, Lean thinking and principles, production yield improvement, First Time Right, efficiency enhancements, reduction of lead time, elevate site's maturity level on OE, etc. include:

Responsible for providing guidance for all site OpEx projects. Initiates and oversees business transformation and productivity initiatives in a manner that systematically improves operational excellence and delivers superior business results .Facilitate the Site/Functional leadership to define and prioritize OpEx projects. Provides direction and structure, implementing process and methods. Provide Leadership, Mentoring, Training, coaching and sustain all the Continuous Improvement Initiatives at the Site. Develops and implements measurement systems to track effectiveness of process and business improvement process. Maintains and Monitors Productivity and quality metrics/measurements (KPI's) to ensure optimum efficiency and Quality, utilize metrics to drive operational improvements. Monitors OPEX project activities to assure control of milestones, efficiency gains and track budget cost savings to actual

Essential Functions:

  • Assessing, analyzing and implementing solutions across the sites and supporting functions to identify and eliminate waste, organize around Lean processes and deliver excellence on safety, service, environmental, quality, productivity and cost.

  • Perform business /site lean assessments, maturity assessments, development of content and delivery of training, supporting cross business unit projects and initiatives such as: Interfacing with Quality, Planning, TS, Engineering, R&D, HR, IT, Finance and other functional roles through coaching and mentoring to promote a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Facilitate problem solving sessions such as Kaizen or Workshops, Gemba walks, training etc. to lead teams to address issues integrating Sigma/Lean Manufacturing tools to consistently improve process yields, reduce waste and drive productivity.

  • Supports activities related to development of mindset and behavior towards continuous improvement such as: reward & recognition, communications campaign, employee ownership, certification programs etc..

  • Monitors site OPEX project activities to assure control of milestones, efficiency gains and track budget cost savings to actual. Designs and delivers presentations to Senior Management on the results of Analysis work undertaken and status of Transformational initiatives

  • Supports best practices sharing throughout NJ/NY sites

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Must have strong computer skills, MS Office, MS Project, MS Visio or equivalent.

  • Preferred: Computerized statistical software such as MINITAB or equivalent. Black Belt or Green Belt experience preferred

  • Knowledge of cGMP, FDA and other regulatory compliance.

Qualifications for Internal Candidates

Education:

  • Bachelors Degree (BA/BS) Engineering or Science - Required

  • Master Degree (MS/MA) Engineering or Science - Preferred

  • Master Degree (MBA) Operations Management - Preferred

Experience:

  • 5 years or more in Operational Excellence

  • 5 years or more in Management of people, projects, a functional area or a combination.

  • 10 years or more in Pharmaceuticals Operations

Skills:

  • Hand-on experience with Operational Excellence body of knowledge including DMAIC & PDCA methodology, problem solving, standard work, SMED, OEE, OPE etc. - Advanced

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills - Advanced

  • People leadership and teamwork skills - Advanced

  • Experience collaborating with employees within a department at various levels from shop floor to upper management and across functions - Advanced

  • Project Management and Planning Skills - Advanced

  • Displays sound business acumen and integrated thinking - Advanced

Specialized Knowledge: Licenses:

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification-Upon Hire-Preferred
