Job Description:

Senior Motor Control Engineers

Job duties:

  • Collaborate with motor design, firmware, hardware, and system engineering teams during the design life cycle for innovative motor controls for power tools and outdoor power equipment.

  • Specifying, architecting, designing, prototyping, and verifying advanced motor control algorithms.

  • Creating motor control firmware, deploying it on embedded platforms, and verifying the design on a dynamometer and power tool.

  • Leading motor control design, prototyping, verification, and troubleshooting effort for embedded electronics hardware and firmware on medium- and high-complexity projects.

  • Providing effective and timely communications across the organization regarding project-related progress, obstacles, and risks/opportunities.

  • Creating a work breakdown structure for work and driving to critical milestones.

  • Mentoring, guiding, and coaching engineers, while growing the ability to lead a small team. May manage project team members.

  • Using laboratory equipment such as dynamometers, oscilloscopes, power and logic analyzers, power supplies, e-loads, and data acquisition systems.

  • Independently tracking projects to ensure adherence to schedule and the Milwaukee Tool’s process.

Job Requirements:

Master's or equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field and 2 years of relevant experience with motor control theory or Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field and 5 years of relevant experience with motor control theory. Experience must include:

  • Embedded Microcontrollers or Digital Signal Processors

  • C/C++ code for embedded microcontrollers

  • Matlab and GNU Octave scripting language

  • Real-time simulation, model-based design, hardware-in-loop, and code generation using Simulink.

  • Speed and position sensors (Hall, encoders, and resolvers).

  • Analog signal conditioning electronics and current sensors

  • Motor control-related power electronics

  • Induction, brushless DC, and permanent magnet synchronous motors

  • Classic and modern control theory

Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.
